About the role:

ORC recognises the importance of technology in our market and is undertaking significant investment in a new and exciting program to develop applications that will provide a framework for us to deliver world class research technology to our clients. This programme includes all parts of our business and will let clients view and interrogate all research information collected by ORC together with data from external sources.

The design and acceptance of these applications is in the hands of the company’s leaders in our research specialisms. While they are experts in their field, they are not all experienced in software development and have many other priorities. This role will work alongside our research experts, helping guide and manage the development of new applications.

The primary role of the Business Analyst is in the capture and review of business requirements, scoping the proposed solution and, once agreed, the development of a functional specification for our development teams. There are likely to be clarifications and changes during development and so the Business Analyst will work with users and developers to resolve these.

There will also be some involvement form time to time in large client projects, with a similar role in documenting requirements and providing the communication interface between our clients and development team during the development lifecycle.

The successful candidate will ideally have a background in data analysis/programming or research with a good understanding and appreciation of technology. Being able to relate to how customers use online analysis tools and communicating that to developers with little research experience is a key aspect of the role.

Knowledge of Market Research will be a benefit together with a passion for how research clients can utilise technology.

Key Tasks:

- Work with Users (or clients) define user requirements for a variety of online analysis tools

- Document requirements by writing clear and comprehensive functional specifications and working with User Interface designers to create wireframes

- Assistance and clarification for the Solution Architect, User Interface Designer and Development Team when queries arise

Key Skills/Qualifications:

- Minimum 5/6+ years’ experience in a related position

- Numerate degree with good academic qualifications

- Good knowledge of project management tools and process (e.g. PRINCE2, PMP)

- Attention to detail and high capability to work on different projects in parallel

- Previous experience in data analysis

- Excellent oral and written communication skills
