Enigma People Solutions is excited to be recruiting for the national tourism organisation in Scotland. Our client is a contributor to the advancement of Scottish tourism by giving it a real presence in the global marketplace and benefiting the whole of Scotland.

You will be working within the Digital Development & Delivery department which focuses on delivering digital solutions which meet the needs of a variety of projects across the organisation.

The primary responsibility of the role is to manage the department’s Development team working very closely with the Head of Digital Development & Delivery to ensure that delivery is aligned to the department’s strategy and roadmap, and organisation wide objectives.

The post holder will also drive forward the development processes, methodologies and the solution capability within the team.

The Development Manager will form part of the department’s management team and will be expected to support strategy, project and resource planning, process definition and management, and day-to-day operations.

You will be responsible for the line management of a team of 8 developers, ranging from Senior Developers right through to a Graduate Developer.

Lead and deliver technical projects, where appointed by Head of Department, including project planning and scoping, communication, delivery and risk management, ensuring deliverables are met within anticipated timeframe and budget.

Responsible for defining coding standards and best practices for solution development and supporting subsystems, to ensure that web sites, applications, tools and systems are easy to maintain following project completion.

Skills and experience:

          Previous experience and proven track record of managing, leading, mentoring and motivating a technical team, and ensuring processes and best practice are adhered to.

          Overseeing and leading the development phases of projects and supporting applications once they are in their operational environment.

          Proven track record in architecting and developing large scale web sites and applications.

          Extensive experience building web sites integrated with enterprise content management system (CMS) platforms.

          Excellent and extensive experience developing web applications using a range of current open source frameworks

          Proven and demonstrable experience working with databases

          Experience detailing and documenting development best practices and coding practices.

          Experience of preparing and coordinating the use of development and testing environments.

          Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
