Operations Engineer:
Reporting to the Network Operations and Service Delivery Centre Manager the jobholder will be involved in the day to day running of a NOC/SDC. This is a 24 x 7 operation, housed in a state of the art facility. This facility will be a centre of excellence for the proactive management and identification of potential service issues and also the swift management of any outages that occur.

You will be part of a growing and skilled team of engineers, accountable for ensuring all client services are supported and maintained within SLA. Ensuring all service levels are maintained, or exceeded and projects are delivered on time.

The team is involved in monitoring and supporting a range of client environments. The jobholder will be hands on, with experience of working in a mission critical environment a pre-requisite. The jobholder must have great technical, telephone and communication skills

The jobholder will need to be able to work to deadlines, understand strong processes and workflows, help co-ordinate the activities of both internal and external stakeholders. They will also have strong administration and numeracy skills.

Essential

           A strong background in support and/or proven experience of working with: Windows Server 2008, and 2012 configuration and troubleshooting including but not limited to:

- Virtualisation
- Backups
- Clustering/Resiliency
- Effective resource allocation

           Good general understanding of Networking fundamentals: OSI Model/Subnetting/NAT/Routing/VLAN's etc.
           Strong interest in problem resolution, first time fix
           Excellent customer service and communication skills
           Team player
           Ability to provide 24/7 on call support.Desirable:

           Microsoft accredited ideal.
           Possess a strong understanding of network infrastructure, routers, switches, servers and computer hardware in general (CCNA ideal)
           Experience of working with SQL an advantage
           Good knowledge and significant experience of a proprietary NMS ideally SolarwindsRoles and Responsibilities

The jobholder will provide our customers with the highest level of customer support, resolving problems. They will also act as an escalation point for other members of the NOC/SDC  team. They will ensure that all service tickets and/or projects are kept up to date and keep that customers fully informed of the current status. Typical duties will include:

           2nd and 3rd line Server Support
           2st and 3nd line Network Support
           2nd and 3rd  Line support of voice , data and Telecoms
           Support and update customers on project/incident/service request progress and planned actions at all times.
           Managing 3rd party support calls to resolution
           Potentially out of hours and weekend work
           Ownership of all issues that are assigned/escalated to you.The successful candidate will have a strong focus on customer service, and take delight in receiving positive customer feedback.
