Our client are a major marine electronics company currently seeking a shore based service engineer with a knowledge of electronics installation.

The role

- Undertakes straightforward, well-defined tasks that are narrow in scope & work on own initiative to complete.

- Assists other team members in the identification of more complex problems and can apply diagnostic methods to identify causes and propose possible solutions.

- Is expected to be able to provide estimations (time & materials) for tasks and stick to them.

- Escalates problems which are blocking progress of own work.

- Is expected to adhere to company practices and policies, especially health and safety and report/highland any issues.

- Responsible for quality and timeliness of own work; has no supervisory or management responsibility.

- Manage security of information as defined in the Security manual

- Fault diagnosis and repair of supplied equipment in Aberdeen workshop and onshore customer sites, ensure all testing & records are accurately updated.

- Manage records and arrange for the repair of customer returned items as directed and in accordance to processes.

- Installation and commissioning of supplied equipment & systems at customer sites as directed.

- Complete scheduled maintenance on systems subject to support contracts in accordance with current maintenance routines.

- Document all activities as detailed in QMS, including Site Reports, Defect Reports, Delivery Notes and Job Cards.

- Provide basic training to customer & other engineers, as required, on supplied products.

- To liaise with and provide technical support to other departments such as Projects, Production and Development.

- Writing of technical reports, specifications and test procedures.

- Provision of practical engineering support to other activities where time and priorities permit. -

Experience

Essential

- Presentable to customers / suppliers - to be articulate in his communication - an ambassador of the business.

- Good understanding of IT and networks.

- The Ability to work with limited supervision

- Basic skills in wiring and mechanical fitting

- Use of both bench and hand portable test equipment.

- To be able to communicate accurately on technical issues with internal & external customers, both written and verbal.

- Computer literate.

- Flexible approach to working hours and patterns inclusive of anti-social hours, weekends etc.

- Willing to work overtime if required and to travel to customer sites in the UK and overseas as required.

- Ability to work in confined spaces and at height.

- Positive, can do attitude with logical problem solving approach.

Desirable

- Knowledge of installing, testing and commissioning electronic equipment and systems.

- Current experience of supporting marine electronic equipment on vessel

- Experience in maintaining unfamiliar equipment/systems

- Knowledge of PTW, Risk assessments etc.

- Qualified by experience in supporting equipment at customer premises

Qualifications

Essential

- Some Electronic/Electrical/IT experience.

- Full driving licence.

Desirable

- City and Guilds / ONC in Electronics / OND in Electronics / Electrical Engineering or related discipline.

- Working at height

This role would ideally suit a college leaver or graduate who is looking to gain experience & knowledge working within a fast flowing, dynamic team, supporting mainly our Oil & Gas customers.
