IT Project Manager, Southampton
Permanent £45,000
We are looking for IT Project Managers to work on new and exciting opportunities working for a large engineering support services provider based in one of their successful divisions in Southampton.
The organisation is the UK's largest provider of engineering support services. As a FTSE 100 company it delivers critical support to industries such as defence, energy, transport, telecommunications and education. Working as part of the organisations central corporate services division the IT Project Manager will be responsible for ensuring that the business gains value from the delivery of IT projects.
Key responsibilities
* Ensure the implementation of structured project management processes to ensure the effective delivery of business value from IT projects.
* Assemble project plans and teamwork assignments, directing and monitoring work efforts on a daily basis, identifying resource needs, performing quality review; and escalating functional, quality and timeline issues appropriately.
* Track key project milestones and adjusting project plans and/or resources to meet the needs of customers.
* Maintain a full set of documentation as required by the IT Project Management Process for each project.
* Coordinate communication with all areas of the business that impacts the scope, budget, risk and resources of the work effort being managed.
* Assist the Programme Manager and Business Relationship Manager in partnering with senior management of the business community to identify and prioritise opportunities for business improvement.
* Ensure that through life support capabilities are key design considerations in all new business system solutions.
* Ensure solution designs are compliant with the existing Technology framework
What you'll need
* Experienced IT professional, focused on being a part of a cost effective and efficient programme management team
* Project Management qualification or equivalent experience (APMP / Prince2)
* Demonstrable knowledge and experience of implementing and delivering large projects in complex environments within Budget and Timescales using structured Project Methodology
* Experience of upgrades and roll-outs, deployment of business applications and infrastructure projects
* Demonstrable knowledge and experience of current IT technology
* Microsoft Project power user
* Experience of Microsoft Project Server would be advantageous
* To be able to obtain security clearance
