The Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) has the responsibility for the management of property, infrastructure and related services to ensure strategic management of the Defence Estate as a whole, optimising investment and, critically, supporting military capability to the best effect.
The Chief Information and Process Office (CIO) area within DIO Head Office is responsible for the delivery, management and assurance of all IT/IS strategies, policies, standards and services that are applicable to the DIO. CIO has four key pillars; Requirements and Customer Service Team, Design and Transition Team, Delivery and Operations Team and Security and Assurance Team.
The Project & Benefits Manager is responsible for the tracking, measurement and reporting of business benefits that are expected to be delivered as a result of successful delivery of IS-enabled business change projects. The post holder is expected to become a trusted advisor to the Programme and Portfolio Manager, Project Managers and other key stakeholders, proactively proposing considered actions.
Key responsibilities of the post are to:
Manage and maintain the CIO Benefits Management Strategy
Develop and maintain benefit realisation plans, supported by costs and benefits modelling
Monitor benefits delivery against what was predicted in the project or programme business case
Identification of new benefits that may not have been considered within the original business case
Track benefits across the lifetime of the change utilising appropriate tools and techniques
Engage with senior stakeholders to model both the business benefits and the risks associated with solution options
Produce reports and metrics for key programme meetings
Support senior management to ensure that all plans, work packages and deliverables are aligned to the expected benefits
Manage engagement with business, vendor and Programme Team in a complex environment
Escalation of key risks and issues impacting on benefit realisation
