The Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) has the responsibility for the management of property, infrastructure and related services to ensure strategic management of the Defence Estate as a whole, optimising investment and, critically, supporting military capability to the best effect.

The Chief Information Office (CIO) area within DIO Head Office is responsible for the delivery, management and assurance of all IT/IS strategies, policies, standards and services that are applicable to the DIO. CIO has four key pillars; Requirements and Customer Service Team, Design and Transition Team, Delivery and Operations Team and Security and Assurance Team.

The Risks & Issues Manager will be responsible for supporting Project Managers and wider stakeholders with the management of Risks, Issues, Assumptions and Dependencies across all projects within the CIO IS Projects Portfolio. This will include providing support with:

Development of the programme Risk Management Strategy.

Ensuring risk management processes, tools and techniques are being followed consistently throughout the programme.

Acting as a central point for all risks and issues queries across the programme.

Ensure risk and issues and their potential impact are accurately defined and assessed and that appropriate mitigation plans are actively managed and reviewed for success.

Producing Risks and Issues reports, where required.

Escalation of key risks and/or issues to senior management where appropriate.

Facilitate risk workshops at key phases in the programme to ensure risks are identified, assessed, owned and actively managed to minimise their impact on the programme.

Review project documentation and plans to highlight any issues that might compromise delivery.

Management of key programme assumptions, dependencies (internal and external) and other controls.

Support to the IMS PDO planning specialist, where required (estimating activity durations, dependencies & critical path analysis).

Responsible for the production, maintenance and implementation of the full range of PRINCE2 products in line with MOD project and Programme management processes.

Ad-hoc programme administration (scheduling of meetings, production of agenda, minutes etc.)

The post holder will work as a member of the CIO Programme and Project Office and report directly to the IMS Planning Specialist.
