DevOps Lead/Manager

My Edinburgh based client is seeking a DevOps Lead/Manager to join their team on a permanent basis. My client is a technology company - combining creativity and innovation with technical know-how to create positive change for IT enterprises and working with some of the world's best known companies!

The successful candidate will be responsible for the design and estimation of new hosting solutions and projects as well as performing day to day maintenance of hosted systems & networks, responding to alerts and maintaining security and stability and updating documentation. You will be the driving knowledge sharing within the company, including presenting in front of an audience and supporting the efforts to identify technical direction of the team and company.

Skills required - essential and desirable:

* Experience of hosting web applications on Linux and Windows

* Strong server side command line skills on at least one common Linux distribution

* Familiarity with managing hardware switches and firewalls

* Understanding multi-tier network design and when to implement them

* Comfortable using Xen and DRBD to deliver site diverse solutions

* In-depth understanding of JVM structure and memory management

* Knowledge of using Puppet, Chef or Ansible including bespoke recipes and deployment to multiple environments

* Experience with IDS and DoS prevention and other host and network security techniques

* Competent at writing and implementing custom monitoring checks

* Experience with monitoring tools such as Nagios and New Relic

* Experience of leading the technical delivery of a large project

* Exposure to a client facing role within the technical domain

* Keen follower of trends and themes within the industry

* Familiarity with DevOps practices
