Our client are a marine electronics installation and service business based in Aberdeen. They are currently seeking a Senior Service Engineer to undertake and supervise more complex marine electronics installation and service work
Key Responsibilities:
- Management of, and participation in, the 24/7 on-call engineer rota, ensuring that required service levels are maintained at all times.
- Act as technical lead for the Aberdeen team and as technical interface with other areas of the business such as development, production and projects.
- Responsible for ensuring that all service engineers receive the right training and that they have the necessary skills and competencies to complete their roles in a safe, efficient and professional manner.
- Continuously improve performance in the area of service delivery to improve efficiency or the quality of services delivered.
- To provide technical estimates (time & materials) for service tasks as required by the Aberdeen Project Manager. The role will hold accountability for any errors or omissions made and for the delivery of 'as sold' margins.
- To support the Aberdeen Project Manager as technical lead on projects where required.
- Responsible for quality and timeliness of own work; and for the quality of other service team members' work through quality assurance and review activities.
- Escalates problems which are blocking progress of own work.
- Fault diagnosis and repair of supplied equipment in Aberdeen workshop and at onshore/offshore customer sites.
- Assist other team members in the identification of more complex problems and apply diagnostic methods or liaise with other areas of the business to identify causes and propose possible solutions.
- Installation and commissioning of supplied equipment & systems at customer sites.
- Complete scheduled maintenance on systems subject to support contracts in accordance with current maintenance routines.
- In-service modification of supplied systems.
- Provide telephone and e-mail technical support to customers and employees as required.
- To liaise with and provide technical support to other departments such as Projects, Production and Development.
- To oversee work carried out by customer/subcontractor staff in as far as it relates to Ultra provided equipment.
- Engineering support to equipment trials and customer demonstrations.
- Writing of technical reports, specifications and test procedures.
- Provision of practical engineering support to other activities, where time and priorities permit.
- Maintain Offshore Survival, Medical and MIST certificates.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
- Experience installing, maintaining and repairing complex electronic systems in an offshore or marine environment.
- Good understanding of IT, Networks and Software based solutions.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills with high standards of attention to detail.
- Confidence in building relationships with customers with a strong ability to communicate technically at all levels.
- Ability to work in confined spaces and at height.
- Experience working with surveillance technologies in the offshore oil and gas environment or similar.
- Leadership experience and demonstrable experience in a position of responsibility.
