Enigma People Solutions is recruiting a Pixel Design R&D Engineer to be part of a dynamic team focussed on the rapidly expanding photonics market, working on State-of-the-Art Time of Flight ranging solutions employing industry leading SPAD (Single Photon Avalanche Diode) technology.
This role will be within the Photonics Pixel and Silicon Architecture team of our highly regarded client. The team’s primary mission is to define the photonics pixel roadmap in close collaboration with the silicon, process, module & system R&D; develop advanced know-how on photonics pixels, being able to trade off constraints from system to silicon; support & design photonics pixel & pixel test chips.
To be of interest you will be able to demonstrate that you have the following skills
Essential
• Post graduate degree in Electronic Engineering or a related field
• Cadence tools for schematic capture and layout
• Analogue design and simulation
• Comfortable analysing data and bench measurement results
Additional desirable skills and experience
• Mixed signal simulation
• Knowledge of photonics devices and/or image sensors
• TCAD or equivalent process simulation tools
• Knowledge of CMOS fabric process
• Working knowledge of semiconductor devices, silicon products and device measurement
• Clear communication skills and proven ability to work in a multi-disciplined environment.
• Bench Characterisation / silicon debug
In this role you will be responsible for the research and development of pixels for photonics devices. This role will bridge the gap between process development (diode design) and circuit design (pixel readout circuitry) so a knowledge of CMOS processing and fabrication in addition to circuit design is required
The aim of this role is to study the pixel operation in detail and understand the key factors which impact performance. This will include the operation of the diode plus the associated readout circuitry. Pixel design specification and performance will be evaluated against product and system requirements and it is the goal of the team to deliver pixels for inclusion in mass market products. In addition to this the pixel team develops and maintains test chips which are used for advanced pixel and diode R&D and this role will require the successful candidate to work on the design of such test chips as well as contributing to the development of advanced pixel and diode designs.
This will therefore require close interaction with the design team and also the technology development team at the foundry.
The candidate must be team focussed and highly motivated. This role requires an understanding of the full photonics system and therefore strong collaboration with colleagues locally and in the wider design/engineering community across the Imaging Division is a key factor for success . Strong communication skills are mandatory.
On offer is the opportunity to join a world leading team, with a good starting salary and excellent benefits package.
