Essential Experience: Analysis, review and definition of MI and Reporting within an IT environment

We are currently looking for an experienced M.I Analyst for a 6 month contract within public sector based in Inner London. The ideal candidate should have a strong knowledge of data warehousing (DWH) and financial data store (FDS) will be key to the project.

Holding a disclosure Scotland will be advantageous with this role although candidates willing to undergo this will be considered.

Key Tasks

Review current reporting framework for CMS including underlying infrastructure and architecture used to support delivery of different reports through CMS;

Data Warehouse (DWH) or Financial Data Store (FDS)

-Document architecture and process flow to illustrate how each data source is used/when

-Understand volume of data and bandwidth of reporting mechanisms

-Understand different data sets that support DWH and FDS and why/if we need both

-Highlight technical limitations/constraints of the above eg. storage/Capacity

-Understand the time it takes to create/populate required reports

-Assess ease of use

-Understand system demands of each reporting mechanism

-Understand resource demand for these BAU activities Recommend how to overcome the above limitations to optimise current reporting arrangements/systems Recommend a more strategic solution for CMS reporting in future and a roadmap of how to get there including any associated costs

- Consider any interim solutions that might be feasible as well as a longer term strategic solution

- Highlight any dependencies and risks

-Complete the retrospective specification of CMS reports in agreed priority order in consultation with PMU and other key stakeholders

-Streamlining list of reports currently highlighted for retention

- Stakeholder Engagement is critical

-Harmonise and standardise the current set of reports run within CMS and in the Sequel Server Reporting Suite (SSRS)

-Assure development and testing by ICT to ensure the reports are fit for purpose and guidance drafted to support their production

-Report progress to the CMS Project Manager and PSG. Deliverables - Completed report and recommendations within 3 months of start date for submission to PSG

-Completion of retrospective report specifications

-Harmonised set of reports in CMS and SSRS

-Report on current costs of maintenance of existing data sources to help inform future strategy and any savings to be made.
