Project Manager New Product Development Mechatronics

Based in South West London, the New Product Development Project Manager Mechatronics will work for a leading UK specialist designer and manufacturer of imaging control mechanisms and solutions for OEM/ODM customers.

The New Product Development Project Manager Mechatronics will be a key member of the companies exciting strategic growth plan. Bringing highly innovative solutions to its customers that allow them to differentiate themselves in the market. This results in a business model that is highly R&D focused and where the ability to rapidly and predictably deliver new products to market is key. The primary purpose of the role of the New Product Development Project Manager is to ensure that new product development projects are delivered under control to scope, schedule and budget.

The New Product Development Manager will be responsible for the following

? Project Management of multiple concurrent internal new product development projects delivering new or enhanced mechatronic products.

? Project Management of multiple concurrent bespoke mechatronic development projects delivering systems solutions to meet specific customer's system requirements.

? Managing internal and external research programs often involving internal resources, industrial and academic partners plus external funding organisations.

? Establishing and documenting project scope and technical requirements - defining what success looks like at the start of the program and maintaining this current throughout the project life.

? Establishing baseline cost, schedule and performance parameters for new product developments with stakeholders and then ensuring that projects meet these.

? Identifying, managing and mitigating risks - proposing suitable project risk provisions and agreeing these with stakeholders.

? Managing change control within projects applicable to scope, schedule and budget.

? Establishing and maintaining WBS and project schedules ensuring that project schedules are maintained current and are used by the project team in execution not just a management reporting tool.

? Management of commercial agreements with customers and partners.

? Reporting project status in a clear and concise manner to stakeholders.

? Product costing and generation of proposal material.

Personal Profile

? The ideal candidate will have a background as a design engineer giving the individual hands on experience of mechatronic development.

* The candidate will have subsequently specialised in project management, obtained a formal project management qualification and have worked as a project manager in a product development environment.

? A background in optical systems development is not required however the ideal candidate will have a background that includes the development of high volume precision electro - mechanical systems.

To be successful in this role the New Product Development Project Manager will have the following skills and experience

? Formal qualification in a Science or Engineering discipline to degree level.

? Prince 2/PMP/APM trained and qualified.

? A minimum of three years' experience as a new product development Project Manager delivering new mechatronic products in a manufacturing business producing 10k - 100k units PA.

* Experience in managing mechatronics projects including mechanical engineering, electronics, software and optics

? Experience of managing precision mechatronic design projects.

? Experienced Microsoft Project user.

? The drive, determination and absolute attention to detail that is necessary to ensure project delivery 100% to scope, schedule and budget.

? Flexible to travel occasionally to customer locations, often International.

? Good interpersonal skills, effective team player.

? Experience of operating in ISO 9001 environments and to industry specific standards.
