Job Title: NOC Analyst

Location: Westhill, Aberdeenshire

Our client currently has a vacancy for a NOC Analyst. The primary responsibility of the NOC Analyst is to ensure the continued Integrity, Stability and Security of the customer network. The NOC Analyst will also be the primary interface with customers and various engineering groups, and to facilitate fluid transfer of information for both implementations and service restoration in a 24-7 shift environment. In line with this, reasonable proximity to the site for unscheduled cover is preferable.

Key Responsibilities:

* Troubleshoots remote satellite communication systems and network connectivity.

* Ensure maximum possible service availability and performance of the company and customer networks.

* Perform active troubleshooting of all supported systems for the NOC.

* Full knowledge of all RF equipment, network equipment, telephony equipment, T-1/E-1 carrier systems, TCP/IP and VoIP.

* Assist with proactively monitoring the network using existing Network Monitoring Systems to address unreported outages.

* Maintain updates of assigned trouble tickets on active problems or requests.

* Manage incident resolution within the shift, reassigning tickets or calls to Field Technicians/Dispatch as appropriate.

* Ensure escalation and notification procedures and processes are followed via the company standards.

* Exercise judgment within defined procedures to achieve timely resolution while maintaining customer satisfaction

* Provide direction and guidance to customers and technicians during the trouble-shooting process including but not limited to, remote site equipment problems and issues, installation, testing, verification of satellite link performance, RF communication systems and customer data networks.

* Ensure clear and concise documentation of work and processes performed in the trouble ticket and appropriate ancilliary document folders.

* Assist in the Change Management process to insure proper notification of all customers impacting changes are communicated per NOC policy.

Key Requirements:

Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

* Demonstrable VSAT experience, or proven networking experience is preferred. Degree Qualification or similar in Computer Science, Engineering or related sciences and/or Vendor Industry Certifications - Cisco - CCNA is advantageous (not essential).

* Proven experience in a technical role such as support of satellite communications systems (VSAT)

* Experience working with/for the oil and gas industry advantageous.

* Ability to effectively direct/lead personnel in an emergency situation

* Ability to read, write and comprehend complex instructions and detailed correspondence to assist other departments staff/customers in their comprehension.

* Ability to communicate complex issues and their resolution to NOC staff.

* Ability to solve problems using resourcefulness and good judgment skills.

* Understanding of Cisco network equipment (routers, switches)

* Knowledge of service provider technologies (MPLS, QoS, Netflow etc.).

* Understanding of TCP/IP, Routing (OSPF, BGP, RIP).

* knowledge of various satellite communications technology and equipment preferred (iDirect, Comtech, SeaTel).
