UNIX / Linux Platform Specialist - Investment Bank
Salary: circa 85-95K+ benefits + bonus
Location: London
A leading global investment bank are looking to hire a UNIX / Linux Platform Specialist (Senior UNIX / Linux Engineer / Linux Systems Administrator / SA). The Unix Specialist/ Unix Engineer will have a deep technical knowledge and act as a bridge between application, development and infrastructure teams, strengthening the synergy and relationships and enhancing the UNIX/Linux platform estate for the bank globally.
The UNIX / Linux Engineer/Platform Specialist will be involve through full incident, problem and change cycles, from acting as the SME for 3rd/4th level incidents, deep analysis of problems and associated management and also driving improvements and change projects to evolve and enhance the UNIX / Linux estate. With this in mind the UNIX / Linux engineer / specialist will have to have a strong hands on technical nature and be happy to roll up their sleeves to assist with incidents as well as helping to drive projects / engineering work also.
Ideal Skills / Experience:
* Expert level Linux / Unix Systems Engineering / Administration (eg Solaris / Red Hat / Veritas / AIX) - including strong scripting/automation skills such as Python / Perl / Shell.
* Strong Monitoring software/product knowledge and analytic skills, eg BMC Patrol or similar.
* Strong underlying infrastructure knowledge, understanding of how the estate slots together from networking, storage, application etc layers.
* Exceptional communication skills, ability to build relationships across multiple teams and have the stakeholder management capability to understand needs of the business and transform these into tangible technical solutions / improvements.
