Systems Administrator (UNIX, Red Hat, Solaris) - London - 3 month contract

Our client, a media and broadcasting giant, are currently recruiting a Systems Administrator to join their team based in central London. This is a contract role, with an initial 3 month duration. The role will be focussed on upgrading the current systems to Solaris. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with UNIX, RedHat and Solaris.

Key responsibilities of the role include:

* Take responsibility for building and maintaining UNIX systems that make up our clients' infrastructure estate.

* Gather requirements from various design, development and application specialist teams to build infrastructure platforms for our clients' systems.

* Ensure all implementations are fully documented for audit and support purposes.

* Perform maintenance and updates of existing systems to mitigate failures and increase security.

* Work as a member of the team as well as individually to facilitate improvements and increase the efficiency of the department as a whole.

Essential skills/experience:

* Solaris 10/11 Administration including Jumpstart, ZFS, Solaris Volume manager on Sparc. and x86

* Redhat 6/7 Administration including Kickstart, LVM and Puppet.

* UNIX shell scripting.

* TCP/IP practical networking experience.

* Previous experience of working in a large organisation, maintaining an estate of at least 50 servers.

* Excellent communication skills and ability to produce technical documentation to high standard.

* The ability to take ownership of complex problems requiring a broad technical awareness.
