My client is a specialist in supporting small to medium organisations with all aspects of their IT requirements. Based just outside of Glasgow they are known in the market for attaining a high level of customer satisfaction making sure that business standards are maintained. Due to continued growth they are currently looking for a 2nd Line Engineer to join their existing team.

What is your job?

Based firmly in a 2nd line capacity you will have the opportunity to not only assist customers via remote and telephone but also go onsite and deal with it physically. Looking after small to medium business means that the systems are often more critical than in a larger organisation so being able to manage multiple issues at one time will be a regular occurrence.

You will be dealing with issues such as:

* 2nd line escalations and some 3rd line where needed.

* Support for Windows 7/8/10 issues.

* Support for Server 2008 & 2012 and SMB including virtualisation support.

* Some field support work.

The ideal person

Ideally you will be someone who is working in a 2nd line position dealing with a wide range of technologies. Current or past experience working in an IT solutions company would be a fantastic benefit for this opportunity. Also if you are currently working in senior 1st line and deal with a wide range of technologies then this role may be a good step up for you.

You should have the following for this role:

* Experience supporting internal or external IT functions.

* Experience in Virtualisation technologies.

* Basic networking experience.

* Supporting Microsoft technologies such as:

* Windows 7/8/10.

* Server 2008/2012/SBS.

Due to the nature of this work a full driving licence is required.

Additional duties could include:

* Travelling to customer site to provide break fix, desk side support and onsite support.

* Knowledge share for lower level members of staff.
