ECS is currently seeking experienced Unix Consultant / Migration Lead in to work with our Edinburgh based client. Remote working is available!!
You will join a programme which is currently migrating Business systems from legacy UNIX/Solaris infrastructure to a new T5-4 platform which is already in place.We are utilising the Oracle P2V process to help expedite migrations
General Key Responsibilities
Act as Technical lead on migrations
To own the Schedule of Events (SoE)
Is responsible for the successful execution of the SoE
Present Changes to the Change Board for approval to proceed
Deliver all the milestone documentation to ensure project billing can take place
Request System admin / Change Lead support for each migration
Ensure upward reporting / comms
Report directly to the Project Manager
Utilise SME for support, help, guidance and ensure they are kept informed and up to date
Essential Skills:
Strong understanding of Unix
Good understanding of EMC storage solution with Veritas VM
Can demonstrate successful ownership and delivery of migrations
Ability to deliver within a risk averse environment
Proven ability to drive change and work to tight deadlines
Stakeholder management
Desirable Skills:
Solaris 10, Veritas Cluster, Financial Service experience, Oracle VM, LDONS, E25K
We are looking for an individual with strong technical skills, proven stakeholder engagement, can demonstrate ownership of delivery and has successfully managed and implemented migration change. Knowledge of building and delivering change via a Schedule of Events is also highly sought after.
The role is Edinburgh based however there is the opportunity to work remotely either from home or our London office. Remote working will be possible following a successful migration; as such the initial phase of the employment will be in Edinburgh.
