The Front End Developer is a key role within the Digital Development & Delivery department, part of the Corporate Services Division of our client. The role will be a key part of the digital solution development process and focus on the development of standards complaint web and mobile front-end builds for a variety of projects across the digital program. The team develop, deliver and maintain a number of solutions that are mission critical across the organisation, and are looking to continue to innovate to best meet the needs of the business.
The post holder will be responsible for owning the day to day web development of a range of static build phases and work streams on a variety of projects and a number of complex and business critical web applications and services.
As the team looking to embrace newer models and approaches, and develop responsive solutions, the role holder will be expected to support this process and provide hands-on input into moving this forward.
Essential Skills
HTML5, CCS3 and JavaScript/JQuery based enterprise web solutions.
Experience of designing and developing websites and applications for mobile devices.
A working knowledge of developing responsive design solutions, across a range of target user devices.
A good knowledge of accessibility and best practice standards.
A proven track record and working knowledge of developing AJAX based solutions.
Highly motivated in assessing, learning and deploying new technologies.
Good understanding of current generation and legacy web browsers.
An excellent understanding of web development delivery processes and practices.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Desirable
A knowledge of Web Content Management System e.g Alterian Morello.
A knowledge of the mobile development framework PhoneGap.
An understanding of LESS/SASS.
Exposure to Java/J2EE presentation-tier technologies such as JSP and JSF.
Understanding of source code management & version control systems such as: Subversion, CVS, Git.
Experience of working on large scale web applications, with large volumes of traffic.
Exposure to working with other web platforms such as WordPress and social integrations.
