UNIX Engineer / UNIX Systems Administrator (Solaris 11 SPARC). Technology driven, global financial services firm is seeking a skilled UNIX Engineer to join a world class Solaris team utilising the latest technology including T5-x servers and Solaris 11 Operating Systems.

As a UNIX Engineer you'll be responsible for engineering, performance management, capacity planning and administration of the Solaris SPARC environment. You'll create solutions for deployment performance management with an emphasis on quality of design that is efficient, usable and maintainable. Responsibilities will also include responding to performance related requests from application teams; test and certifying newer SPARC hardware as well as new releases of the Solaris Operating System.

You'll be working in a friendly team environment that encourages knowledge sharing and close collaboration, you'll present ideas for peer review, seek ideal solutions through evaluation of merit and achieve consensus on the final design. City based offices with smart casual dress code.

Requirements:

*Indepth experience of engineering and administration of a UNIX environment, including Solaris 11

*Excellent scripting skills, KSH and Perl

*Thorough understanding of UNIX concepts, including performance considerations of each subsystem as well as the APIs used to access them

*Excellent communication skills and a collaborative team member

*Desirable: configuration management systems (CFEngine, Puppet, Chef); background with Python / C++; familiarity with mdb, DTrace, snoop/tcpdump

*No finance experience necessary
