I am currently working with a leading distribution and logistics business who are looking to recruit a Programme Director for a 6 month contract (likely to extend) contract based in London.
The main duties of this role will be to take overall responsibility for a portfolio of projects, solutions & people and be accountable for end to end programme delivery. Through a team of Programme & Project Managers you will own the project delivery process, ensuring that strategic suppliers deliver; acquiring & utilising the necessary resources & skills to deliver the programme objectives and outcomes.
The key accountabilities for the position will be:
* To oversee multiple workstreams of Project Management, Business Change Management, Applications Development (principally outsourced) and Application Portfolio Management processes, disciplines and resources
* To lead delivery management across concurrent projects / programmes with accountability for multiple budgets, timescales and resources with stakeholder communication and interaction typically operating at or just below board level
* Accountable for planning and monitoring the portfolio of projects with reporting through into Executive Boards
* Accountable for implementing programme governance and organisational arrangements
* Accountable for implementing quality management processes for programme team activities
* Responsible for managing strategic suppliers to achieve the desired programme outcomes
* Responsible for coordinating activities and dependencies within the programme and identifying external dependencies on other projects, resource or environments
* Responsible for forming, managing and sustaining effective relationships with business stakeholders
* Work as a member of the Business IT Ops management team to support the Business IT Director with the ongoing evolution of the team to ensure high performance and a great working environment
Ideally applicants will have the following:
* Proven track record and experience in all project lifecycle phases (e.g. strategy, business case, contracting, mobilisation and shaping through to implementation and transitioning into support)
* Strong pedigree on large systems integration programmes in a multi-vendor landscape
* Previous experience in logistics/supply chain type programmes preferred but not essential
* Demonstrable experience and formal programme/project management qualifications, tools and techniques
* The ability to manage conflicting priorities, multi-site programmes and projects
* Demonstrate outstanding stakeholder, people management, coaching and leadership skills
* Sourcing IT solutions from the market place
* To be able to manage conflicting priorities, and have the experience and skills to handle a high degree of ambiguity in potential approaches and requirements
