This is an opportunity to join one of the UK's fastest-growing content marketing and SEO agencies, with offices based in Edinburgh, London and Dubai. They specialise in Organic Marketing with a variety of big brands across a wide range of industry segments with a particular focus on travel and retail delivered via their dedicated team of SEO, Content Marketing and Insight specialists.

The role

They are looking for a passionate back end developer to join their growing company. You will be joining a small team that is responsible for the design and implementation of creative platforms and internal tools within the agency as well as the option to work on client projects.

To fulfil this role, you will need to demonstrate practical knowledge and experience gained via a previous back end developer role, be solutions orientated and a team player. Front end experience is not essential but would be welcomed.

The basics

- Minimum 1 year digital development experience

- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills

- Delivery-oriented with the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines

- Open, approachable and enjoy working with others

Essential

- Demonstrate a deep understanding of PHP and other server side technologies.

- Familiarity with MVC and MVW frameworks such as Laravel, AngularJS & others

- Advanced understanding in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, AJAX

- Knowledge of REST API best practices

- Have experience in creating relational databases in MySQL or MongoDB

- Demonstrate use of collaborative and code repository platforms such as Github

- Highly organised, accurately estimating and tracking your time across multiple projects

- Able to develop reusable code libraries

Desired

- Firm grasp of modern digital marketing practices

- Experienced in UX and UCD best practices

- Be able to work with Unix based environments, be familiar with Unix command line

- Able to generate and maintain front-end code and work in tandem with FE developers

- Ideally carry a portfolio of web development / content marketing projects

- Node.js, Java and or C++ experience

- Have the credibility to develop agency methodologies, standards and best practices

- Able to develop web accessible and browser compatible code

- Familiar with robust and agile testing and QA
