Our client are a major defence avionics business currently recruiting for a project manager with knowledge of IFF systems.

**Job Description**

Our client are recruiting a Project/Programme Manager to manage the introduction of Mode 5 IFF capability on various Rotary Wing Platforms.

Focussing on the prime contractor role: managing the sub-contracts with the Rotary Wing Platform Design Organisations (PDOs) (Agusta Westland (Merlin & Wildcat), Airbus Helicopters (Puma), Boeing (Chinook)); taking the Mode 5 IFF installation designs through formal design review cycles and Test, Evaluation and Acceptance activities to achieve Release to Service from the UK MOD Platform PTs. Also to support the follow-on embodiment activities to achieve the required Initial Operating Capability (IOC) and Full Operating Capability (FOC) targets for the platforms.

The PM will lead a multi-disciplinary team, reporting through the Embodiment Programme Manager, within the Mode 5 IFF programme in the S3(UK) Business Unit and be responsible for practical programme planning, organisation and management. The PM will work closely with the Mode 5 IFF programme team to ensure the platform requirements are achieved, and to report progress, risks and opportunities as part of the overall Mode 5 IFF programme

Predominantly the role will focus on the relationship with the PDOs and Platform PTs which are based predominantly in the South West of England, but reporting into the Mode 5 IFF programme and UK MOD Customer (APS PT) in Bristol.

**Key Responsibilities**

- Delivering a technical programme efficiently - Understanding cost implications, delivery timescales, design assurance, aircraft clearance processes, schedules and reports

- Managing programme delivery to meet Cost, Time and Quality targets

- Management of risks and opportunities within the Rotary Wing platforms programme

- Be accountable for progress to the various boards

- Contribute to the improvement and efficiency of the Mode 5 IFF programme and S3(UK) Business Unit

**Skills, Qualifications and Knowledge**

- Hold Programme and Project Management qualifications such as APM, Prince2 or equivalent

- Understanding of design approval and aircraft clearance processes

- Extensive experience working in a Programme Management Office/Project Support Office (PMO/PSO), a Consultancy organisation or similar organization

- Experience working with technical and non-technical teams across a broad range of disciplines and geographical locations

- Strong experience of managing projects and people

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills

- Proven experience of managing major sub-contractors

- Strong experience of leading the delivery of a programme, project or work stream

- Strong experience of managing complex issues

- Experience in building strong client relationships with high level stakeholders

- Good knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite, especially MS Project (2010 and above)

- SC cleared

- The ability to travel (approx. 50% of the time in UK and Europe)
