Senior Programme Manager

Based in Hayes the Senior Programme Manager will work for a company who are focused on design, manufacture and service support of RF power solutions for commercial and military applications. The growth of this business is dependent upon the successful execution of programmes through rapid deployment of Project Management and New Product Introduction processes. Adherence of quality, cost and delivery to plan are critical success factors.

The Senior Programme Manager is responsible for successfully leading multi- disciplined teams, through initiation, planning, design and delivery execution to agreed gate level of New Product Introduction process. The Senior programme manager also has the responsibility lead directorate team to support the sales function with bid activity, and help drive process improvement across the business in line with best practices. Programme Managers are also the 'profit police' guarding margin and minimising over run in time or cost.

The Senior Programme Manager will have the following accountabilities and responsibilities:

1.To assume total responsibility for the management of allocated programmes and projects.

2.To achieve high performance on all facets of programme delivery, operational and budgetary margins, accurate forecasting and delivery to milestones.

3.To have total and complete understanding of each contract and programme under the programme managers control.

4.Define, communicate, execute & monitor the programme plan schedule and prioritise specific to individual contracts and programmes, in line with agreed contractual requirements, with appropriate work packages, key milestones and budgets for each stage of package.

5.To hold, chair and present at programme meetings such as design, progress and contract reviews and gate reviews in line with NPI process.

6.Detailing and reporting contract issues, priority and risks, informally and formally at contract reviews, production meetings and customer reviews.

7.Manage and report fiscal performance of the programme, adjusting the plan in accordance with programme needs.

8.Maintain effective and good working relationships with customers (internal and external), project stakeholders and suppliers where appropriate to ensure customer expectations are met or exceeded.

9.Manage project uncertainty through risk planning establishing appropriate mitigations and contingency plans that are communicated to the project team.

10.Undertake bid management through initiation and planning phase, provide sales support through bid review process and provide supporting documentation in accordance with the Programme Management Handbook, and NPI Process.

11.To comply with the Company Policy on Health & Safety monthly reporting of cost to complete status ,instigation of remedial actions

To be successful in this role the Senior Programme Manager will have the following skills, experience and knowledge

1.Demonstrate project management experience, identifying ownership and delivery of high value programs in challenging situations, preferably engineering related programs.

2.Training in project management disciplines preferably APM or similar.

3.Use of project management resource tools such as MS project and earned value.

4.Commercial knowledge - contractual, scope control, negotiation.

5.Direct customer interface management

6.Full life cycle management of new product development

1.Proven track record of successful programme completion to deliver committed objectives.

2.Ability to lead and influence a team

3.The ability to demonstrate effective communication skills to all business areas

4.Ability to work with teams at all levels of the business

5.Strong financial and commercial awareness

6.Strong negotiation competency

1.A manufacturing and/or engineering background in Defence sector would be advantageous.

2.Degree level educated or equivalent.

3.PRINCE, Association for Project Management (APM) or Information Systems Examination Board qualified, with relevant experience of working with Managing Successful Project or Programmes methodologies would be desirable.
