The Principal/Senior Data Governance Engineer will work closely with key stakeholders within the programme and ensure buy identifying the key systems and their data entities in the end to end process for product data. Create and maintain functional Information Asset Registers and identify a community of Data Owners, Stewards and Custodians. You will also be responsible for supporting the T26 programme on understanding their data quality issues and providing support and advice on how they are to be resolved. Ultimately the role will drive the business understanding of the data flows and their dependencies. Influencing behavioural change to ensure that data quality and governance becomes embedded in the programme's culture.
Top Major Tasks and Activities:
1. Lead the delivery of the Date Govenrnance / Assurance framework to the Type 26 Programme including the Naval Ships Buisness Glossary
2. Lead in the coordination of resources supporting and implementing Data Quality Management and Governance/Assurance intiatives including data owners and stewards
3. Lead in the the development of measures for assessing the benefit to the business of data governance and assurance, periodically measuring the effectiveness and feeding it back to senior management
4. Delivery of data governance and assurance awareness and training across the business
5. The creation of the programme's data models and Information Asset Register
6. Creation of specification documents for new data management requirements
7. Implementation of the 6 Data Principles across the programme
8. Ensuring the resolution of data quality issues are completed and suitable processes are in place to stop repeat of issue
Key responsibilities include:
9. Maintaining Data Standards and Policies,
10. Assuring that data standards / policies are being followed
11. Maintenance of NS Business Glossary
12. Maintenance of the programme's Information Asset Registers
13. Maintenance of functional Data Models
Additional Key Accountabilities:

14. Assist in the development of policies and procedures in assigned areas, ensure that all relevant polices and procedures are adhered to by reporting staff or on allocated projects and that they are carried out in such a way as to minimise risk.
15. Provide ad hoc support to Programme Staff on Data Goverrnance and Assurance mattersprogramme managers and directors to support decision making.
Key Technical Skills
Experience in implementing Data Governance and Quality
Experiencing identifying and mapping Data Flows
Experience in Data Management
Experience in Data Requirements Capture and Documentation
Experience in using Data Governance tools.
Experience in complex Engineering Projects.
Experience of multi discipline Projects.
Experience of MoD / Customer Mgmt and working with international customers.
Experience of using Information Analyser and ability to interrogate scripts
Excellent IT skills particularly MS Project; MS Excel, MS PowerPoint and Vision
