Senior Network Engineer (Telecoms) - South Wales - £45,000 + Excellent Benefits

My client is a global organisation with an outstanding track record within their field. They have a fantastic opportunity for a Senior Network Engineer to join them in their offices based in South Wales.

The successful Senior Network Engineer will be responsible for the transitions of solutions into the organisations and 3rd party data centres whilst meeting planned budgets and timescales.

Furthermore, the successful Senior Network Engineer will ensure that all necessary support documentation is amended to reflect any implementation made and ensure handover and knowledge transfer to onshore and offshore support teams.

This role will require someone to work of their own initiative. It may also require you to work remotely, from home or customer sites from time to time.

Main Responsibilities:

* To assist with the management of the team that assesses and implements requests for changes to infrastructure services according to the principles and strategies developed within the unit

* Act as a "buddy" for new starters to induct them into new process and procedures. Be familiar with company values and convey them as an important framework working in the organisation

* Act as a facilitator between all team members generating a technical community that share both technical and client information. Promoting a Telecoms Centre of Excellence

* Contribute to the ITS Telecoms Continuous Service Improvement Plan to achieve cost efficiencies. Gather information and report metrics to support CSI initiatives

* Act as an escalation deputy point of contact for the ITS Telecoms Consultancy Manager as required

* Facilitate developing a technical community that share technical and client information

* Attend ITS Management meetings deputising for the ITS Telecoms Manager

* Assist the ITS Telecoms Manager with resource management

* Review availability capacity / demand / forecast and assign resources in the absence of the ITS Telecoms Manager

* Assist with the effectively management of the ITS Telecoms CPMS queue ensuring the team meet deadlines and KPI targets

* Responsible for recruitment of new staff, reviewing CV's, actively conducting telephone and face to face interviews

* Responsible for completion of Performance reviews for a maximum of 10 ITS Telecoms Engineers in People Management Staff group. Follow the organisation performance guidelines to effectively assess performance through the year

* To deliver projects and changes to infrastructure services to timescale and within budget while minimising risk to live service operation

* To provide consultancy services where required

* To ensure effective handover of changes to installed services to the operational BAU teams.

Key Skills:

* Perform OS Install / Patching / Firmware updates in line with best practices

* Maintain the security and documentation standards (ISO90001 AND ISO27001)

* Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

* Identify, assess and mitigate technical issues and risks

* Advanced Cisco IOS & Multi-Vendor Firewall experience.

Academic & Professional Qualifications:

* Educated to degree level

* Hold at least 1 current industry qualifications for their specific technologies/disciplines

* SC cleared or SC Clearable (i.e. must be resident of UK for the previous 5 years with no work Visa requirements).
