SC/DV Cleared VMware Specialist

My Secure Government Client require a VMware Specialist to be based with their Platform Team and been seen as the Subject Matter Expert on the IaaS compute platforms.

The successful candidate will actively support and directly contribute to the delivery of organisational objects and their dissemination, in support of the successful delivery of the business plan. Requirements will also include undertaking architecture research and design activities.

Essential:

*In depth experience of VMware solutions and tools, to include ESXi, vSphere, vMotion, HA and DRS at v5.5.

*In depth experience of Veeam solutions and tools for backup, availability and replication.

*Experience of installing and supporting solutions within Government secured environments and a working understanding of the Government security marking scheme

*Experience of working in an ITIL v2 or higher based IT Operational environment.

*Experience of writing high and low level design document sets.

*Experience of architecture, design, implementation, support and managing hosts and virtual machines within shared multi-client platforms, including:

**VMware.

**Windows-based OS.

**Linux-based OS.

*Experience of design, implementation and support configuration of various tools to manage and monitor storage in virtual environments.

*Good networking knowledge.

*Ability to work within an ITIL based service organisation (particularly where project work, planned and reactive maintenance activities interface with the ITIL service processes).

*The ability to work within a team but also individually.

*Critical thinking and problem solving skills.

*Good personal planning and organisational skills (attention to detail)

*Excellent interpersonal skills and experience of dealing with and presenting to staff at all levels.

*Demonstrable practical experience of delivering IT within Central Government

*Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.

*Good report writing skills.

*Good understanding of Central Government and OGD systems and HM Government security regulations.

Desirable:

*Accredited with VMware VCP or higher.

*Experience in VMware vCloud Director installation and operation.

*Accreditation in Microsoft Windows OS.

*Accreditation in CentOS or Red Hat Linux OS.

*Working experience of Hyper-V and operation of workloads on that virtual platform.

*Experience of migrating servers and workloads between VMware and Hyper-V.

*ITIL Foundation accreditation.

*Experience of capacity management and performance tuning.
