Senior Test Analyst - Java, Python, JIRA, UI, Linux - 6 months - Edinburgh - Up to £400 per day

The Company

Spring Technology's client, a public sector body in Edinburgh, is looking for an experienced Senior Test Analyst to join them on an initial 6 month contract.

The client is currently going through an exciting period of change as a result of a large digital transformation project.

The Role: Senior Test Analyst

As a successful Senior Test Analyst, you will play a key role in the testing of various legacy and new application projects. This will involve analysing user stories, developing test plans, creating test scenarios and test cases, preparing test data and collaborating on test automation frameworks. Your experience will allow you to successfully divide your testing areas into structured exploratory testing, automated BDD test design, non-functional, UI, security and accessibility testing.

Responsibilities include:

*Carrying out manual exploratory and non-functional testing and creating a record of results and identified issues

*Evaluating the quality of products under testing and distributing the results to the relevant teams

*Working alongside developers and BA's in providing feedback on making the projects fit for purpose

*Calculating test effort for sprints, projects and user stories

*Maintaining test automation solutions and locating other areas where they can be applied

*Identifying areas to improve on test scenarios and coverage

*Reporting back on test metrics to senior management

*Utilising JIRA in the development and maintenance of testing environment online documentation

Essential skills and experience will include:

*Extensive experience in testing and/or software development

*Demonstrable knowledge of Java and Python

*Prior knowledge of common software faults

*Previous experience of building and maintaining test automation frameworks

*Exposure to Agile environments

*The ability to write SQL queries

Desirable skills

*Public Sector testing experience

*Previous experience of working with JIRA

*Linux exposure
