Business Intelligence (BI) Analyst - Edinburgh - £400 per day - Contract

This is a key role that sits within the Business Intelligence department - Your input will be pivotal to providing insight and reporting solutions to help drive continuous improvement across the teams.

This will involve working with business users, acquiring business requirements to define and deliver effective solutions that will help shape business-as-usual.

You will have worked on development projects and understand the techniques of a project life cycle as well as having a good understanding of report design and delivery.

Day-to-day this role will involve;

- Evaluating data and make recommendations in order to minimise company risks.

- Eliciting, analysing, validating, consolidating and prioritising the high level business requirements using appropriate requirements definition techniques.

- Presenting and interpreting data

- Designing and delivering technical solutions to deliver effective insight to the business using Excel, Access, SQL.

- Working as an ambassador for the technical capability of the BI team internally and externally by interfacing with key stakeholders.

- Supporting and coaching less experienced colleagues to contribute to the development of the team.

If you have over 5 years` experience as a Business Intelligence Analyst (or similar position) and experience of several of the following, then we would like to hear from you!

You will be expected to have;

- Experience of a project life cycle for development projects, methodology building / testing and report design and delivery.

- Exceptional verbal and written skills being able to communicate technical specifications to non-technical business users in a clear and effective style.

- You will be comfortable with gathering requirements from different business user groups.

- A good working knowledge of SQL Server databases

- An understanding of data management including ETL.

Technical skills required:

-Database design.

-Data warehousing, dashboarding and reporting

-ETL Tools

-Data modelling, specifically an understanding of logical and physical models

- Advanced Excel skills, i.e; documenting data flows, requirements, definitions and clear and concise data mapping

- Reporting using SSRS

- Delivering projects against tight deadlines/objectives
