Role Summary
Working as a Test Lead, you will define and drive the system level testing and verification activities, striving for common test approaches across the different workstream’s dedicated test resource. With an emphasis of ASIC and Optoelectronics test experience, you will liaise, co-ordinate and report back upon the outsource partner’s test activities and also conduct some in-house testing. You will ultimately be responsible for the final quality of the product and you will be the go-to person for all matters test-related and be the test champion internally.
Responsibilities
The core responsibilities include: -
Establish baseline test protocols and procedures, then continuously improve the test procedures using best practice and technological advances
Define and drive integration and system level testing, from writing the test specification, setting the acceptance criteria and executing the test procedures in line with project plans
Liaise closely with the workstream leads and test resource within the different workstreams to create then update the overall test plan and improve overall test efficiency, and where appropriate, highlight possible bottlenecks and resource constraints
Attend internal project and product review meetings to ensure the importance of quality is kept firmly on the agenda with the intention to improve overall system quality
Create and maintain test data and environment parameters with any bugs being recorded and resolved
Act as the primary interface for the outsource partner responsible for delivering the external test data. This includes the planning and coordination of the schedule of work and also the communication back into the workstreams of any modifications or improvements required
Provide technical guidance and mentoring to the test & verification engineers within the different workstreams
Person Specification
Essential
Ideally around 5+ years of experience of testing complex products with at least 2+ years of system level testing
Breadth of testing knowledge gained across a wide range of different technical disciplines such as ASIC, Optoelectronics, Software and Firmware
Experience of co-ordinating complex system level testing programmes and developing system level test plans
Experience testing network/communications equipment
Very good understanding of networking concepts
Natural born problem-solver with desire to find issues, bugs and problems and follow these through to resolution
Previous experience of creating and documenting new test procedures
Proven track record of delivery and commercial success
Proven team-player with the demonstrable ability to lead and work autonomously
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Desirable
Very good electronics test/fault finding capability
Knowledge of programming or scripting languages, such as C, Python, Java, Perl, etc. to automate test procedures where possible
In-depth knowledge of software and/or firmware testing concepts
Excellent MS Office skills, in particular MS Excel at an advanced level
Experience with using source control and versioning tools (e.g., SVN) on a day-to-day basis
