Software Designer (JavaScript, HTML5, CSS4, jQuery, C#, ASP.NET MVC)

We have been engaged to find a Senior Developer or part Developer, part Architect who wants a fast-paced and thoroughly challenging role producing enterprise-scale software solutions. This company are based in Stoke, Staffordshire so are really accessible to the Peak District, an hour's drive from Manchester in the north and Birmingham to the south, and also close to South Cheshire, Shropshire and Derbyshire.

Salary is up to £60k + car / £5k allowance. There's an annual bonus and pay review, 25 days' holiday, gym membership and pension.

You'll be a Senior / Lead Developer looking to move further away from a 100% coding role, or perhaps you'll be a Technical Architect at an SME looking to work on bigger projects. As Software Designer you will be responsible for understanding multiple web systems and conceiving a solution. The role entails lots of code investigation, researching what can be done, conversing with various teams, and some coding too (about 20%, e.g. proof of concepts).

You will be the go-to person for around 15 Web Developers as Software Designer and you will have experienced the same issues / problems they are facing at some point in your career. Mentoring these Developers will also be part of your role. You'll QA their code and be responsible for governance and coding standards.

The Developers are developing web apps and websites across desktop, mobile and tablet in JavaScript, HTML5 and CSS4 as well as .NET (C#). It's a mix of Front End Developers who've done some back end programming s well as server-side .NET Developers who know front end tech. We're looking for a Full Stack Software Designer expert though perhaps leaning more towards responsive / front end development.

You will be comfortable with the development of complex, distributed, multi-tier applications. You'll work in a Test Driven Development environment and following Continuous Integration practice. This company adopt an Agile approach within an SOA setup.

Importantly this company have a very low attrition rate within Development (less than 10% a year) - this is because they offer a structured career growth plan which recognises and rewards. They also offer a real breadth of projects and tech! They do expect people to work hard but it's not a 60 hour a week place - lots of the Development department have families and are able to get back home in good time.

Long-term progression opportunities are available, either within the dedicated Architecture team or in more people management-focused roles.
