Job Title: Practice Lead - Software
Location: Office based. Richmond, Surrey (nr Richmond train station).

Our client is the UK's leading provider of telecoms billing, provisioning, and customer management solutions to service providers operating in the communications, data, and IT sectors. There is now a requirement for a Senior Project Manager to join the team. This a key role, leading a small team (2-3) of Project Managers, ensuring best practise within the PMO office and driving the department forward to contribute to the success of the company.
The successful candidate will have a strong background in Project and Team Management, delivering multiple Projects within a Software, Telecoms or Technology environment. The position is mainly / near 100% office based with occasional customer visits.
Main Job Purpose
The Practice Lead will set the project management standards within the company with the primary goal of producing standardised documentation and reporting across departmental project delivery.
The Practice Lead will also be expected to act as the Senior PM for larger projects whilst managing a team of 2-3 project managers. The Practice Lead will oversee the use of best practice ensuring the consistency of process, decision making, delivery and budgetary management of both internal and external projects.
Duties & Responsibilities
*Owns the project delivery function from a technical side, associated processes, documentation, and tools
*Responsible for Project Managing the installing our software for our clients and Union Street
*Responsible for data migrations
*Responsible for continual service and process improvement
*Manages day-to-day operational aspects of assigned projects
*Expected to conduct weekly order progress reviews with department
*Responsible for project billing and invoicing on completion of milestones
*Manages day-to-day operational aspects of assigned projects
*Carries out risk assessment and minimizes our exposure to risk but maintaining a risk log
*Provides the client with regular scheduled updates
*Required to preserve information security, report security breaches, in line with the Information Security Policy, and to act in accordance with the requirements of the Information Security Management System.
Management Responsibilities
*Works with project managers, developers and engineering resources to deliver the project goals, and manage customer expectations
*Responsible for day to day staff management
*Identifies resources needed and assigns individual responsibilities
*Responsible for providing senior management with weekly WIP and project highlight reports
*Staff appraisals and objective setting
*Regular staff one-to-ones
*Staff training and mentoring
Skills and Professional Experience
*At least 5 years' experience of project management experience managing multiple projects in a technical and cross-functional environment, leading clients and team members through complex system implementations and integrations with aggressive delivery deadlines
*At least 2 years' management experience
*Experience of working in the telecoms industry would be advantageous
*Exceptional communication, leadership, team building, and people management skills
*Proven experience managing scope and internal/external expectations through effective negotiation and partnering
*Experience with Microsoft Office products (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Visio) and/or ServiceNow
*Flexibility for UK travel
