Technical Architect (Enterprise Software) | £75k, Stoke, Staffs

SOA, Agile, C#, ASP.NET MVC, JavaScript, HTML5, jQuery, enterprise-scale applications, mobile, NoSQL (Riak)

I'm interested in speaking with Technical Architects and Senior / Lead Developers who are open to hearing about a hugely progressive technology-led firm delivering enterprise-scale web systems.

This company are based in Staffordshire so are really accessible to the Peak District, an hour's drive from Manchester in the north and Birmingham to the south, and also close to South Cheshire, Shropshire and Derbyshire. If you live further afield we can offer a generous relocation allowance.

Salary is to £75k. There's a car, annual bonus and pay review, 25 days' holiday, gym membership and pension included in the benefits.

This type of company and the systems they develop are rarely found outside the Big Smoke so if you fancy working close to the countryside but getting the benefits of cutting edge work and remuneration this could be of interest to you.

They have a straightforward and pragmatic approach to development and an informal culture. What sets their best people apart is their constant drive to learn and stay ahead of the curve - their industry moves so fast that if they don't keep up with developments they will quickly lose their spot as No.1. If you read technical books, blogs, participate in tech meet-ups and the like you'd fit in well here!

As a Technical Architect you will be designing n-tier applications which are consumed across desktop, mobile and tablet - there's plenty of variety and substantial pipeline of work. This role is a new addition to the Architecture team.

You'll have a strong background in software development and will have remained close to the code in this Architect role. You'll have a good appreciation of security best practices, will have created software development standards and QA processes and, important, have the ability to remain calm when under pressure! In addition you will be a mentor, trainer and educator to the Development Team.

It's a largely Microsoft-based environment (C# ASP.NET MVC and WebForms) with raw JavaScript, HTML5, CSS4, JQuery though they are also exploiting open source and different technologies which aid performance, scalability and robustness, such as functional programming languages, Riak and other NoSQL systems. Due to their private status technology decisions are able to be made very quickly and effectively.

So, we need an open-minded Technical Architect who isn't wedded to one particular way of working - you'll be an advocate of delivering simple, scalable code with experience of software design patterns and architectural principles.

Importantly this company have a very low attrition rate within Development (less than 10% a year) - this is because they offer a structured career growth plan which recognises and rewards. They also offer a real breadth of projects and tech! They do expect people to work hard but it's not a 60 hour a week place - lots of the Development department have families and are able to get back home in good time.

If you'd like a chat or email conversation please do let me know.
