Well established South Wales Business urgently requires a Software Architect. You will be a member within the company's most prestigious team. Being responsible for capturing business requirements and translating those requirements into System Architecture, that can be understood and implemented by Research & Development as well as regional software development teams.

You will also work with a wide variety of different roles within the business including R&D Engineers and Team Leaders, Product Owners and Managers, and Regional Solution Experts. The role can also include direct engagement with other Product Unit Technical Experts as well as Software Partner Representatives and existing and potential customers.

The main responsibility of the Software Architect is to define the end-to-end system architecture of software services and applications. Ensuring that the software produced by various R&D teams are all aligned, interoperable and fulfil the requirements of the stakeholders.

The role will not feature development as a responsibility; however coming from a development background will certainly enhance your profile. The emphasis around the role will Cloud focused, especially as this business is moving into this area.

How your daily responsibilities will look;

* Assisting Product Owners and Managers in the definition of acceptance criteria (user stories, BDD etc).

* Scoping support - working within the scoping process to deliver accurate and timely estimates when required by the business.

* Present the System Architecture to other parties such as technical writers, R&D, partners and regional solution experts and be their technical interface to other groups.

* Customer engagement in support of general pre-sales - including support to regions and pre sales for technical customer meetings, RFx processes and ad hoc engagement.

* Investigate and analyse new technology, trends, and feedback to the PU to ensure our software remains cutting edge, performant and of a high quality.

The following skills are required. However, the company will not expect you to have outstanding experience within each category, and will help to provide daily support in areas of;

* Demonstrable experience of System, Software, or Solution Architecture.

* A strong background in software engineering, and strives to stay current and on top of the latest technologies and trends.

* Must have formal architecture and analysis skills, e.g. UML.

* Has experience working in organisations that follow Agile methodologies.

* Ideally has experience of cloud and containerisation technologies, and micro-service architecture systems.

* Excellent presentation skills and capability to drive agreements through reasoned arguments both internally with stakeholders and externally with customers.

* Strong collaboration and communication skills with the ability to inspire and influence stakeholders and evangelise technology and process.

* Relishes change in a dynamic workplace while working with international teams and customers on a range of product offers.

* A self-driven, autonomous and highly motivated team player able to follow through and execute with a wide stakeholder group.

* Highly innovative in recognising and managing opportunities to meet customers' expectations whilst ensuring the most efficient technical approach.

* Fluent English essential, other languages an asset.

* Flexibility to travel both within Europe and internationally where required, sometimes at short notice.

This is an amazing opportunity to join an established software business in South Wales, with significant expansion plans for the coming years. You will join in a high responsibility and business critical role, therefore this is best suited to an individual with real drive and ambition. Looking to make the next step in their career and join a team that can offer an exciting long-term opportunity, benefits and challenge. Focusing on staff wellbeing and personal technical development is very important to them.

As a full-time employee, you will benefit from Bonus, Flexible Working Hours, 25 Days Holiday, Life Assurance (x4 basic annual salary). 9% Pension & Flexible Benefits Scheme.
