Would you relish the opportunity to be part of a Government Department in the middle of one of the most exciting and challenging IT programmes across Whitehall?
Are you someone that can look at, or be given a problem and remove all things that are hindering or blocking its successful delivery?
Public sector IT projects are different in scale to anything you can find in most private sector organisations, so how about being part of a team that is responsible for leading IT change projects for an entire Department and beyond?
Department for Education are looking for a Development Manager to join our team of IT specialists. You will be working with the support of your Senior Solutions Manager colleagues and the wider Portfolio Delivery Managers across the Digital and Technology functions. You will be responsible for studying feasibility and managing the overall delivery of new developments, and making recommendations to management on their available options. You will be responsible for the high-performance of one or more highly-skilled multidisciplinary teams delivering a specific product, service or transformation.
We want people who are passionate about providing professional services and want to make the Department a great place to work. You will have a strong IT delivery/project management background with experience of applying Agile and Waterfall methodologies. You will have significant experience of working in a technical role, specifically within development or software development. You will be a strong communicator who is able to relate to people at all levels in an organisation whilst establishing and maintaining respect both professionally and personally, as well as being able to communicate to technical and non-technical audiences.
In return, you will enjoy an excellent rewards package which includes flexible working, Civil Service Pension and career progression, as well as constant investment into your development.
Closing date: midnight on Monday 13th March 2017.
Candidates are required to submit a CV and a covering letter outlining why they would be suitable for the role (as outlined above) based on their skills and experience. Please see the candidate information pack for more information.
