Oracle DBA contract

A leading Irish public sector entity are looking to add an Oracle DBA to their database team for a 12 month contract. This public body have secured government funding to improve their systems by delivering on their data development and knowledge management strategy. This is a golden opportunity for you to secure a great daily rate contract in a quiet market with the possibility of shaping your own job.

Role: Oracle DBA

Duration: 12 months daily rate contract

Location: Dublin city centre

Start date: 3rd of April (notice periods considered)

X-Factor: Excellent opportunity for a long extension.

Day to Day

* General Oracle database maintenance and administration including writing queries for use by Analysts in the Oracle BI tool.

* Updating existing queries required by the Analysts, progression, general enrolment and graduate queries etc.

* Adding fields to the database and BI tool and coding appropriately, as required by the Statistics Unit staff.

* Liaising with staff to ensure integrity/data quality.

* Working with Statistics Unit staff and consultants on the completion project.

* Working with IT staff to solve the SRS security issues, possibly requiring migration of the SRS.

* Development of a bespoke online data query tool to allow public users access to open source HEA data.

* Modification of the existing Oracle BI tool set up to allow Analysts more access to data, including table joins of raw data etc. without requiring SQL code.

* Scoping the possibility of using additional BI tools to enhance analytics capability in the Unit, e.g. SAS Enterprise guide plugged into the Oracle database.

* Working on the geo coding of student address data with Statistics Unit staff, including possibly the use of an API and the Eircode directory.

* You will also be working on 2 other projects and will send through this information if you apply.

The Environment You will be working in a small IT team with many parts that are outsourced. There is a 20 page document on overall IT strategy on data development and knowledge management that will share with you if you apply. This will outline the full IT infrastructure and an idea of the workload.

Skills/Experience: 4 years+ experience delivering solutions, working with:

* Oracle DBA with experience on 11g or 12c

* Undergraduate degree in computer science/IT/Maths or relevant field

* Experience with Linux and server management ideally OEL or Red hat

* PL/SQL,

* Experience in collaborating with stakeholders, strong project management experience

* Communications and negotiation experience

Desirable Experience:

* Public sector experience

* Oracle certification

* Oracle Apex

* OBIEE, HTTP server 12c

* Experience with ETL and data cleaning
