Software Engineer - Solutions Design 

Manchester, Greater Manchester

Our client is a provider of integrated energy management solutions. As part of a world-leading company, they are currently expanding and as such, a superb opportunity has arisen for a Software Engineer to join their team.

As a Software Engineer, you will be responsible for creating high quality products and systems for customer projects and the R&D Team. 

Specifically, you will take part in the initial elements of a project including requirements analysis and the design of solutions. You will also be tasked with coaching and mentoring junior team members to ensure their work is of a suitable quality. 

Taking overall responsibility for software design activities within projects, you will ensure schedules are adhered to and work is completed and to an excellent quality. 

Your role will involve: 

- Maintaining clear and open communication channels with colleagues 

- Working within defined processes and delivering input for technical concepts 

- Estimating project duration and the resources required to design complex new features for software 

- Tracking and reporting project progress in collaboration with Engineers and Analysts on the same project 

- Testing solutions and documenting all tasks 

- Providing support for customer service, product management and operations queries

- Software engineering and design experience 

- Structured solution design and testing experience 

- Experience with user interface systems, multi-tier systems and SQL 

- A degree (or equivalent) within IT related field 

Adaptable and effective, as a Software Engineer, you will need excellent time management and communication skills coupled with the ability to work well as a team and plenty of initiative. 

Experience with RDBMS (Oracle or SQL server) would be beneficial to your application. Exposure to Linux / Unix would be equally favourable.
