Are you an experienced IT project manager looking for your next challenge? Want to use your management skills to effect real business change? If so, we have a great opportunity for you.

Wessex Water is the top performing water and sewerage company in the UK, serving 2.8 million customers across the south west of England. It is part of the Wessex Water Group which comprises a number of other companies alongside our regulated business, including engineering and construction, property development and waste management and renewable energy services.

Our information services department provides an end-to-end service to a wide range of internal customers, encompassing IT development, delivery and support. We are a key element in the successful growth and expansion of Wessex Water Group, across both our regulated and unregulated businesses.

In this role you will be a senior member of the IS programme management team, helping embed a culture of high performance and continuous improvement. Your management experience will enable you to import best practice and help drive the team forward to meet the challenges of our expanding organisation.

The wider IS team operations is undergoing significant change to meet our business customers' expectations and you will provide valuable input to the associated cultural change. You will be managing a range of projects of varying scope, ensuring that each has a clear approach, resources, responsibilities and schedule and is delivered on time, within budget and to customers' expectations.

To do this you will lead small teams, coordinating permanent and contract resources within the programmes and projects team and also input from other stakeholders. Day to day, this means you will be defining resource requirements, supporting the preparation of business cases, monitoring and managing progress of projects, identifying and mitigating potential risks and providing appropriate management information and progress updates.

Much of this role is about managing relationships with sponsors and stakeholders, making sure the project fits or - where possible - exceeds their expectations and keeping them abreast of any changes or updates. As lead you will ensure best practice is followed and that all the associated programme/project processes are followed, such as benefits management, change control and lessons learnt.To do all of this you'll need significant project management experience and be able to demonstrate your ability to run a number of concurrent projects and drive business change. You'll need in-depth knowledge of process improvement as well as qualification in PRINCE2 or AGILE or both. You'll also need to have used formal process improvement activities such as CMMI or APMG or similar.

Alongside your technical skills, your experience in a similar environment plus your well-honed people management and influencing skills will enable you to build successful working relationships with a range of senior stakeholders and customers, team members and colleagues. Your leadership qualities will enable you to drive activity and change while getting the best out of your direct and matrix team.

In return we offer a range of benefits including:

* Defined contribution pension scheme.

* 24 days' holiday rising to 28 with length of service.

* Childcare vouchers.

* Cycle2Work scheme.

* Discounts and cashback scheme from more than 1,200 high street and online suppliers.
