We seek someone with extensive experience of leading client datacentre migrations, from presales, architecture, through to handover to support. The successful candidate will have managed multiple c1000+ workload migrations P2P, P2V, V2V - someone who has led large migrations from initial RFP, and lead the transformational journey thereafter - end to end.

Purpose of Position:
The Migration Architect is accountable for successfully delivering datacentre migration programmes within the EMEA region from Pre-sales through to delivery. The candidate will have responsibility to provide these services for complex business solutions based on company standard managed hosting, Public/Private and Hybrid Cloud solutions.
Key Responsibility Areas:
Working within the Transition Management team to ensure all technical aspects of customer's requirements are delivered in a timely and coherent manner.
Deliver large scale multiple datacentre migration architecture assessment and planning services to enable the smooth transition of external IT client environments into a company hosting data centre
Working in the datacentre migration Workstream to lead and undertake the delivery of a coherent designed, planned and costed migration / transition activities to enable the successful migration of a client's application and infrastructure environments into a our data centre.
Work with clients to estimate effectively and plan end to end migration / transition activities using the company transformation methodology and supporting products
Create comprehensive documentation around migration / transition designs and project delivery and contribute to the development of a centre of excellence in this specialist area
Design and develop phased migration approach working with the Customer Application and infrastructure key stakeholders
Develop and manage internal relationships, earning the respect of colleagues at all levels across the business ensuring a cohesive internal focus towards solution design
Perform billable migration architecture assessment, planning and implementation services as part of the project through to the closure and sign-off with the Customer.
Demonstrate technical and advisory leadership for customers, sales, and other consultants and effectively communicate the technical and business message
Run the Migration tasks coordinating with the offshore teams, customer application teams by orchestrating various technical resources
Create detailed technical migration related implementation tasks, service activation, integration activities, by working closely with all technical departments
Minimum Requirements:
Architecture Design and implementation skills in at least three of the following areas: System Migrations, Data centre consolidation and virtualisation, Vmware, Networks, Storage, Cloud, Business Continuity
Demonstrate experience of leading the datacentre migration projects as the technical lead architect
Demonstrable experience in developing and delivering application and data migration solutions on time and on budget
Able to lead design and customer focused workshops, showing agility and a capability to be creative
Experience of designing & implementing multi-vendor, multi-layered, infrastructure migrations and solutions for large enterprises spanning multiple datacentres and few hundred servers.
An ability to document solution components in a timely manner while ensuring acceptable level of detail, data integrity, and accountability
In depth Knowledge and hands-on experience of migration methods such as P2V, V2V and P2P and Capacity planning
Must have knowledge and experience of Datacentre migration project lifecycle and methodologies
Should have knowledge and experience of tools used for migration like Platespin, CiRBA, BMC ADDM, etc.
Must demonstrate the ability to choose the right tools for data migration techniques
Must have an ability to produce and present high quality presentations to diverse audiences, e.g. customer meetings and workshops
The ability to Identify and quantifying technical risk and advice on strategies to mitigate them
Must have an understanding of technical infrastructure problems, challenges and complexities that exist within each stream or area of a programme and be able to manage the stream leads to arrive at an integrated technical solution that meets the Customer's business requirements
High level understanding of LAN/WAN networking, firewalls, load-balancers.
High level understanding of data centre environmental facilities including power distribution, uninterruptible power switching systems, generators, air handling equipment, cabling and cable management systems, fire suppression, and security.
Good understanding/experience of multi-tiered application architectures
Good understanding of commercial elements of solutions and ability to present this and potential return on investment models to customers
Must have exposure to various Cloud, IaaS, SaaS and PaaS.
Demonstrable technical consulting experience in the IT industry and Must have worked in a customer facing role
A proven track record of working with blue-chip customers and at all levels within a customer
The ability to deliver without a pre-defined customer agenda
Leading technical teams, either through chain of command or influence
Capability to schedule time with flexibility to handle varying workload, and still meet tight deadlines
Some travel may be required through the UK and Europe
Full UK driving licence (with the ability to travel to company offices and client sites across EMEA).
Preferred Requirements:
Candidates should have a good breadth of IT knowledge gained from experience in significant roles, with depth in infrastructure architecture as well as at least one of the other key architecture domains.
VMware Accredited, ITIL qualified
An ability to advise and interact with all levels of client management and staff, including CIOs, CTOs and Programme Managers
Good knowledge of a vertical commercial environment, e.g. retail, legal, or finance
