Database Administrator/ Contract/ 3 months/ Disclosure Scotland/ SQL SERVER

Spring Technology is currently recruiting for a Database Administrator to work with our public sector client in Edinburgh who falls inside the IR35. This is a 3 month contract role with the possibility to extend, starting on the 10th April and due to end on 7th July. This position requires the successful candidate to hold a current Disclosure Scotland.

As a Database Administrator you will be required to:

*Use a database management tools to investigate, diagnose and resolve database problems within service level agreement tolerances, referring to database users, other staff and suppliers as necessary.

*Use database management systems software and appropriate analysis tools to collect routine database performance statistics and create reports, including proposals for improvements.

*Carry out routine configuration/installation and reconfiguration of database and related products.

*Backs up and restores databases, maintaining archived backup data on tape or other medium.

*Assists in documenting procedures and scripts for all aspects of database administration.

*Work with application developers, support staff and external software vendors to troubleshoot site-specific performance issues, escalating to developers for software fixes or implementing database improvements.

Essential skills include:

*Experience of SQL Server (2008/2012).

*Strong background in relational database concepts, including data modelling concepts (such as normalisation, referential integrity and constraints programming).

*Disclosure Scotland.

Desirable experience / qualifications:

*Work in public sector or NRS.

*MCITP/MCSA SQL Server 2012.

*Any higher education in relevant fields (e.g. Computer Science, Information Technology).
