A unique opportunity has arose where a local food manufacturing company are looking for an experienced General Manager who will be responsible for one of their sites in the Glasgow area. This growing company has multi-sites in the UK, and Europe, so career development is a given. You will be a strong leader, eager to lead the way and make a difference in the food service industry with great rapport building skills.

You will be accountable for optimum operational performance and profitability of the site, and the overall direction, coordination, and improvement/development of operational strategy and it's alignment with the site and the group strategies commitments and goals.

A Typical Day

* Manage and control site operational expenditure within agreed budgets, construct, manage and maintain accurate operating cost details for all products and manufacturing processes.

* You will be responsible for technical, supply chain, production, health and safety, engineering, finance and HR.

* You will drive a continuous improvement, and process innovation culture within the site. Upholding and leading by example by encouraging appropriate behaviour standards to support the companies values and culture.

* You will build relations, keep communication, and share best practices with all parties through the business, at all levels throughout the group. Motivate and mentor improvement teams and contribute to performance reviews, and appraisals of non-direct reports involved in project activity.

* You will drive manufacturing process efficiency, for eg, where you can reduce wastage, increase labour productivity, work with commercial and NPD functions to drive profitable growth etc, plan production, keeping customer specific standard requirements at all times and maintaining, developing and documenting all SOP's, controls and processes.

* Implement Lean Manufacturing techniques within a high volume, complex environment.

* Setting and monitoring of kpi's and performance objectives in the within the operating function.

* Attendance at workshops, events, trade shows, clinics and external site visits to continually gain knowledge about developments within functional and wider business relevant fields. Using this knowledge to deliver future business improvements and ensure continued self-development.

Required Skills:

* At least 3 years experience in the food manufacturing/processing industry, including achievements in continuous improvements works, and exposure to senior management is essential.

* Passion for service, and operational excellence.

* Strong rapport building and communication skills.

* Hands on leader, who builds respect and has proven experience in selecting and building successful teams.

* Must look to continually develop their skills, networking to maintain business knowledge and skills, and actively identify development needs and resources to do so.

* HNC/HND, Manufacturing Degree or equivalent experience and ISOHH

Package Benefits:

* Competitive Salary- £55k to £75k.

* 20% bonus structure
