Job Title: Draftsperson / Technician

Location: Cambridge with occasional travel to other sites, customers, partners and suppliers in the UK and overseas

Our client is a global technology group that designs, manufactures and markets products which are vital to a connected world. They are currecntly looking for a Draftsperson / Technician to join their team.

Job Role:

To work as part of the Engineering Team, providing support services with specific responsibility for drafting, design building prototypes, test equipment and product testing. The successful candidate will be a part of the mechanical design team, working on multi-disciplinary projects. The role will also include many opportunities to develop technical skills for mechanical design.

Take a supporting role in the new product development processes from architecture and concept definition through detailed modelling, design and product qualification.

Generation of detailed specifications and design of subsystems and components with a focus on:

* Hands-on involvement in product verification and validation.

* Design, build and debug test equipment.

* Working with multidisciplinary teams to deliver robust system solutions and products ready for manufacture.

* Helping to build the core knowledge, best practices and design standards for the team, department and company.

* Characterise product performance in number of ways and report.

The Candidate:

The Draftsperson will have ground skill level in fundamentals of mechanical engineering. The Draftsperson will be:

* Able to contribute and thrive in an exciting, dynamic, and fast moving environment.

* A team player with excellent interpersonal and cross-functional working skills.

* Detailed and quality conscious with a sharp focus on schedule and delivery.

* An excellent verbal and written communicator, especially in explaining complex technical concepts.

* Diligent with a keen attention to detail in practical work and reporting results.

* Able to maintain and manage drawings configuration through release process.

* Part inspection and testing to appropriate standards and generating inspection reports.

Qualifications and Experience:

Essential

* HNC or above in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.

* 3D CAD modelling essential - Solidworks and/or Creo would be an advantage.

* Understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing including tolerance stack-up analysis.

* Knowledge of mechanical design.

* Testing and validation of products and components.

* Ability to produce technical documentation to support all activities.

Desirable

* Experience of using PDM systems for engineering change control - DDM would be an advantage.

* Experience with injection moulded parts would be an advantage.

* Experience working with BS 8888:2013, ISO 9001 and ISO 13485.
