Electrical Design Engineer (ECR) Cambridge

Huxley Engineering and a Global Name in Automotive, Space & Aerospace Engineering are looking to recruit a Electrical Design Engineer (Product Change) on a permanent basis for their offices in the Cambridge area, in order to strengthen their Engineering Team internally.

Working in conjunction with Engineering, Operational and Quality improvement teams to introduce product or process improvements to maintain standard and special electromechanical systems, the role of the Electrical Design engineer is to develop new concepts through into detailed designs and manufacture, with a biased towards electrical and electronics changes.

In addition, the Electrical Design Engineer is also responsible for:

* Implementing effective electrical, electronic, engineering design control & PLM for existing products through company PDM system & ECO in Oracle (ERP).

* Design for Manufacture of new materials by calculation, FMEA / Risk Assessment, Electrical Design and legacy 2D CAD packages (ME10).

* Structuring new designs in ERP system (Oracle). Compiling Bills of Materials and other essential documentation including Quality Standard documents (ISO9000).

* Structuring new designs in ERP system (Oracle). Compiling Bills of Materials and other essential documentation including Quality Standard documents (ISO9000).

* Exceptional focus on Right First Time Design and minimizing warranty costs.

* Coordination with Engineering & Operations department to ensure correct information transfer and to assist with build and quality issues.

* Ability to work of multiple projects at different phases in project lifecycle at the same time, and able to switch between priorities when required.

Qualifications / Experience Required for Electrical Design Engineer (Product Change) role:

* Electrical / Electronic Engineering Design (Electro-Mechanical) to Degree level, HNC considered with relevant experience.

* Previous Design for Manufacture experience preferably in electrical / electronic hydraulics, pneumatics, medium to large scale manufacturer.

* Experience of a PDM/PLM system and electrical design packages would be beneficial.

* Proven track record Right First Time Design & Design to Cost.

* Knowledge of ISO 9000 with experience of implementing and developing quality procedures

* Knowledge of CE marking requirements and associated regulations.

* Excellent understanding of mechanical & electrical principles.

Technical Competencies

* Excellent Competence on 3D Electrical or Electronic CAD modeling / design

* Desirable - SolidWorks (and relevant analysis tool), Legacy 2D CAD, Microsoft office suite and Oracle (or other high end ERP system).

* Advanced computer skills using Microsoft Office, ORACLE and Microsoft Dynamics Customer Relationship Management Applications

* Good understanding of modern manufacturing processes and Lean methodology

* Strong problem solving skills

* Strong organisational skills

* Understanding of project management (experience preferred).

* Knowledge of various quality system methodologies 8D, Lean, 5 Why's, Pareto Analysis, Six Sigma, DFMEA, PFMEA, PPAP, etc where appropriate
