Broadcast Engineer

Location: West London

Start Date: ASAP

Duration: Initial 6 Months Contract

* Help define specification, integrate and transition technology changes onto the Broadcast Production platform to meet customer requirements while ensuring supportability and service availability levels.

* Work with internal and external groups on long term, indepth root cause analysis of system faults and failures.

* Provide engineering support for out of hours planned work.

* Work on BAU projects for Broadcast Production Support. This will include software upgrades and stability improvement work across multiple platforms.

* Primarily business hours work

* Representation of department at Broadcast Production stakeholder meeting for projects and BAU activities.

* Ensure all issues are logged and reported to high standards

* Flexible working hours

* Representation of department at daily Broadcast stakeholder incident meetings.

Job Purpose

The Broadcast Support Engineer will ensure that high quality proactive maintenance and reactive support is provided for the Broadcast Systems on which the clientss business depends. As part of the Broadcast Support function, this role is at the cutting edge of the convergence between traditional broadcast and IT cultures.

The role is part of the Broadcast Production Support team and will involve close collaboration with other Engineers with in the team and Broadcast Operations and Platform Control, Projects and Design functions within the Broadcast Services division. The Broadcast Engineer will be the primary point of contact for Stakeholders during incidents on the Broadcast Production Platform and will be responsible for proactively engaging with them on a daily basis to ensure smooth operation and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.

. The group's focus is the continued goal of meeting the challenge of improving flexibility and efficiency whilst recognising and driving towards converged technologies and deliveries across the Broadcast areas.

The division is responsible for implementation of technologies and facilities across the multiple sites.

Key Responsibilities

* To ensure that tasks allocated to you are carried out to an high level in an appropriate time frame.

* Provide technical assistance when required to meet the task deadlines for ongoing planned activities and for unplanned 24/7 support requirements.

* To ensure that tasks are always coordinated properly for the hand over and hand back of live systems, to ensure that systems are fully operational before returning to live use.

* To ensure adequate follow up of incidents to prevent repetition of any faults and improve future system availability and team response.

* To ensure that technical solutions are received into the Support Department from Design and Projects groups. This is to be done through collaborative working.

* To provide timely and accurate reports of current issues and future requirements to the Manager of Production Support.

* To demonstrate tact and diplomacy in situations where competing interests exist within the departments and with third parties.
