Infrastructure Support Engineer - London - 6 Months

The purpose of the role is to strengthen the support and operational capabilities of a Global Infrastructure Team either directly or in partnership with internal and outsource support partners.

The jobholder will report to the Systems Manager, IM Operations.

Primary responsibilities include:

* Join an Infrastructure team in providing 3rd line operational support either directly or through IT outsource partners & suppliers

* Resolve complex technical problems across a number of technologies

* Lead critical incident processes, provide technical leadership and supplier management across a number of technologies

* Contribute to operational activities such as software releases, environment management and support of Development teams

* Investigation of performance related problems on Server/Firewall/LAN technologies and the creation of Root Cause Analysis reports, directly and with outsource partners

Specific areas of responsibility (either directly or through outsource partners):

Third Line Support of and/or knowledge of:

* Current versions of Checkpoint Firewall and other security gateways or systems

* Cisco LAN (on local and remote locations)

* Network Connectivity, WAN, MPLS, VPN, Wi-Fi

* Complex Active Directories

* Domain Services particularly DNS, DFSR and DHCP

* Windows Server 2008R2, 2012, 2016 & ADFS Single-Sign on

* VMWARE and vCenter, HyperV

* One or more scripting languages such as PowerShell

* Enterprise Event Management and Security Event Management principles and tooling

* Strong understanding of Security principles, practices and technologies in relation to infrastructure

* Citrix Application Management

* IPT preferably using Cisco Call Manager

* Anti-Virus, Malware tools for detection and removal

Desired Skills & Experience

Education & Experience required for the job

* Degree or equivalent qualification in Computer Science or related discipline

* Minimum of 4 years' experience in an IT Support role

* Exposure to managing outsource partners and tracking delivery against contracted SLA's

* Keen interest in technology and exposure to a technology or manufacturing business

* MCSE, VCP + CCNA preferred

* ITIL Foundation minimum or equivalent experience

Skills

* Essential: Extensive experience in managing Checkpoint & Cisco Firewalls

* Essential: Enterprise LAN / WAN knowledge (Cisco LAN; MPLS, QoS, WiFi)

* Essential: Proven experience with Windows Server 2008R2, 2012, 2016

* Essential: Enterprise knowledge of Domain Services particularly DNS, DFSR and DHCP

* Essential: Experience of build, configuration, on-going support and maintenance of VMWARE & HyperV and vCenter managed environments

* O365 Awareness

* Experience of Orchestration/Automation technologies as well as demonstrated

* Enterprise Event Management and Security Event Management principles and tooling

* Knowledge and experience of deployment to one or more of public/hybrid/private cloud backed by experience of doing this in a business context

* Strong understanding of Security principles, practices and technologies in relation to infrastructure

* Strong understanding of Devops, Environment management, Release Management

* Awareness of Citrix Xenapp environments will be an advantage

The Person

* This is not a project role, the person must prefer to work in a support function

* Tenacious and able to see a job through to completion

* Must be experienced in managing 3rd parties in the resolution on complex technical issues

* Handles pressure well, as 3rd line support, expect complex escalations
