Project Manager - Workshops Supply Chain

3 Month Contract

As the Workshops Supply Chain Project Manager you will be required to support I&RM programmes under the banner of Project Improve, and deliver projects to enhance and optimise the DSG workshop supply chain through an operational focus. Ths will include physical logistics, process enhancements and delivery of change initiatives. You will lead and manage projects to ensure they are completed on time, within budget and that project objectives and milestones are met.

As project manager you will drive and deliver transformation through the development and implementation of a standard operating model, setting the conditions for future enhancement and optimisation.

Main Tasks

* Analyse, scope and agree project objectives, success factors and project critical path activity.

* Create and manage a project plan in line with Prince 2 and APMP methodologies detailing stakeholders, dependencies, resources and alignment.

* Lead change to workshop supply chain operation delivery through project governance.

* Support cultural change through effective communications and soft skill strategies.

* Develop and implement process change through project governance.

* Create a Work Breakdown Structure capturing work defined in the project scope, capturing all deliverables including internal, external and interim work to be completed.

* Provide progress reports and deliver updates both verbal and written briefs.

* Lead the project team, mentoring and advising less experienced members.

* Map out project stakeholders and assess their influence and impact, manage as required.

* Mentor and influence the various stakeholders and dependencies involved in the project

* Lead the development and maintenance of the project RAID process and logs (Risks, Assumptions, Issues and Dependencies). Escalate to Head of Programmes as appropriate.

* Effective use of IT systems and software to track outputs and progress such as Microsoft Project.

* Monitor any sub-contractors to ensure guidelines and project objectives are maintained

* Ensure project plans align with the overall direction and integrity of I&RM Programme objectives.

* Lead the evaluation of project workstreams to assess the change impact and benefits.

* Work closely with all project leads in delivery of change management, stakeholder engagement and delivering capability across DSG dependancies.

Technical Experience and Qualifications

* A degree or relevant professional qualification (NVQ 4, HND, Graduate Diploma,BTEC, PG Dip, etc) and have recent experience in a senior capacity in a complex organisation

* Strong understanding of project management principles, tools and techniques, evidenced through extensive practical experience and a recognised qualification such as Prince 2 or APMP practitioner

* Excellent organisational skills and expertise in managing projects involving multi-disciplinary stakeholders/groups and the ability to deliver project objectives within tight deadlines.

* An ability to develop and sustain relationships with individuals at all levels in an organisation (both internal and external), including the ability to engage with and influence stakeholders.

* Demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills, including experience of developing business cases, project reports, and giving presentations.

* Strong leadership and collaborative working skills, and facilitation and mentoring skills as evidenced through operating in a project management environment.

* Proven and Demonstrable experience in project delivery

* An ability to prioritise/ organise own workload to ensure that deadlines are adhered to, and to successfully deliver under pressure, whilst displaying ability to deal with ambiguity.

* An understanding of the challenges of MoD commercial and cultural working methods.

* Willingness to travel in the UK.

* Proven experience of operational delivery in a complex, time critical environment.

* Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

* Proven management record across the supply chain.

* Able to work closely with all relevant stakeholders to ensure a smooth transition.

* Ability to relate to both client and customer needs at all levels with respect to operational delivery requirements.
