Job Title: Trainee ICT Officer

Location: Central London

If this sounds interesting to you then we are delighted to offer an exciting opportunity to work in our clients ICT Team as Trainee ICT Officer and play an integral part in providing a high quality and measurable ICT infrastructure support service.

You will be assisting and working closely with the ICT Officer to provide first class 1st line support to our clients' internal and external users as well as support the ICT team's operational delivery.

You will have knowledge and experience of the installation and support of PCs and printers within an MS WINDOWS network as well as experience of hardware and operating system support and networking in a Microsoft/HP environment.

This role would be ideal for a motivated individual with well-developed communication and problem solving skills and the ability to work proactively within an environment where priorities are constantly changing.

Operational delivery

* Work with ICT officer for setup and installation of desktop PC's, Printers and other hardware within agreed timescales.

* Work with ICT officers to ensure that Daily backups are completed on all servers, tapes sent off site and any failures reported to the ICT lead.

* Work with the ICT officer to undertake daily checking of all server logs reporting any problems to the ICT Lead.

* Ensure that all operational services are available during office hours, reporting any problems to the ICT Lead and respective support organisation.

Help desk & general ICT user support

* Provide a 1st line diagnosis and support service to internal and external users as required.

* Ensure the helpdesk ticketing system is kept up to date and request/faults dealt with and completed promptly and effectively.

* Provide preventative maintenance on all desktops. Provide an effective liaison with buildings management on IT issues relating to cabling and user moves.

* Liaise with 3rd party vendors to help with installation and support queries and requests.

* Disaster Recovery - ensure desktop software is kept up to date.

Governance requirements

* Assist ICT Officer to ensure that we meet and maintain standards for software compliance.

* Ensure that ICT Communications room and the desktop environment for all users complies with health & safety standards.

* Purchasing of IT consumables, making sure sufficient supplies in stock and we comply with procurement rules and achieve best value.

* Logging of purchase invoices for ICT purchases, liaising with finance and suppliers as required. Escalate to manager and issues with invoices.

* Assist in the maintenance of the software & hardware asset registers.

Other duties

* Work with external and internal auditors to ensure that all recommendations are completed to agreed timescales.

* Attend any training courses and seminars to further develop competences.

* Complies with needs of Health & Safety

* Carry out any other duties commensurate with the post.

Person Specification

* Highly self-motivated with the ability to act on instructions and work flexibly on a variety of tasks whilst managing a workload with conflicting priorities to meet deadlines.

* Willingness to listen and learn and to absorb technical information.

* Ability to problem solve, to evaluate and investigate issues and ideas to suggest resolution.

* Work in a proactive manor to help futureproof and look for opportunities to improve processes and attitudes.

* Supportive team player with the ability to work in partnership with managers and staff to deliver cross team functions, maintaining and developing good working relationships

* Excellent Communication skills as well as well-developed customer service skills.

* Ability to maintain accuracy and pay attention to detail.

* Knowledge and experience of the installation and support of PC's and printers within an MS WINDOWS network

* Knowledge and experience of hardware and operating system support and networking in a Microsoft/HP environment.

* Ability to develop clear and concise documentation.

* Ability to assist in the demonstration and training of staff in the use of new systems.
