Systems Engineer / Analyst - PhD level

This is an immediate requirement for a PhD level candidate with a strong background in either Physics, Mathematics, Radar OR electro-optics.

A great opportunity has arisen for a Systems Engineer to work for a leading Electronics design company in the Edinburgh area. This Systems Engineer role will be working on the development and a number of new algorithms as well as the mathematical analysis of complex trials data.

The ideal candidate will have experience at a PhD level within a numerical subject area and be confident in the use of Matlab or Simulink.

Due to the nature of the work at this site, applicants must be capable of achieving SC level UK security clearance. Current clearance is not a requirement.

JOB DESCRIPTION & REQUIREMENTS

Responsibilities for this Data Analyst role

- The analysis of data to evaluate and develop new radar systems.

- This will be achieved using both bespoke analysis tools for general work and MATLAB for focused tasks.

- To report on analysis results, e.g. performance achieved, problems found.

- To investigate problems and generate solutions. This is a challenging task due to the complexity of the radar. This will involve modelling (MATLAB) and working closely with a range of multi-disciplinary teams.

- To define changes to address problems and develop the radar. This is done through the use of various requirements management and configuration control tools (e.g. DOORS, Dimensions, and Teamcentre).

- To work closely with systems and software teams to integrate changes. This may be at the level of generating test vectors for testing local software changes and at higher level supporting roof lab testing of the radar system.

- To contribute to the verification of the developing radar system.

Requirements for this Data Analyst role

- You should have experience of the following:

- Demonstrate exceptional team working and interpersonal skills.

- Experienced in using standard office software tools such as Word or Excel.

- Experience of modelling tools such as MATLAB.

- An appreciation of requirements and configuration management tools is desirable (DOORS, Dimensions)

- Strong background in Mathematical modelling, Physics, Radar or electro-optics
