Engineering Maintenance Manager: Wigan

Huxley Engineering and a Global Multi-National / Multi £bn Manufacturing Company are currently looking to recruit an Engineering Maintenance Manager on a permanent basis for a large manufacturing site in the Wigan area.

Based in the Wigan area, my client are looking for an Engineering Maintenance Manager to contribute to the leadership team for the overall performance of the site and to provide a cost effective installation, repair and maintenance service to the Plant, for all mechanical & electrical/electronic/instrumentation equipment and Facility Management.

Budgets & Accountabilities:

* Prepare and control of the Maintenance expense budget annually to the value of around £1.5M

* Prepare and control of the Maintenance department budget annually to the value of around £500K

* Prepare and control the Maintenance personnel labour budget to the value of around £900K

* 18 Direct Reports

* CMMS

* All Insurance based asset management (LOLER, L8, PUWER, LEV's, Electric Duty Holder, Asbestos)

Main Responsibilities:

* Participate in budget setting and take responsibility for monitoring and controlling budget for the department.

* Control expenses to ensure budget compliance.

* Contribute to the optimised utilisation of the assets and resources in order to produce at the lowest possible cost and improve customer satisfaction.

* Develop, agree and monitor KPIs and targets and communicate and ensure understanding throughout department.

* Plan the activity of the maintenance personnel by giving priorities and taking into account the material / asset availability. Adapt schedules when breakdowns happen and help maintenance personnel to solve quickly the occurring problems.

* Provide Maintenance services to the Wigan Site to maximise the plant reliability/availability for the Operations Excellence department.

* Identify and develop solutions to unreliable areas of plant performance and / or obsolete equipment.

* Responsibility of project leader for the development, planning, installation, commissioning and training of improvement projects through to completion.

* Develop a continuous improvement culture within the department that utilises formal quality methods and tools to improve production flow, quality and cost effectiveness.

For this Engineering Maintenance Manager role, my client are for a Maintenance Engineering Manager / Maintenance Manager / Engineering Manager with experience in a Production / Manufacturing environment with the following qualifications and experience:

* Educated to Mechanical / Electrical Engineering Degree level &/or Chartered Engineer qualification

* Experience in a production / manufacturing environment (entire manufacturing process and utilities)

* Experience in the management and supervision of others

* Thorough understanding of maintenance practices

* Analytical skills together with a specialised knowledge of process control techniques and systems, such as SPC, lean, problem solving, DMAIC, FMEA, TPM, error proofing, and 5S

* Finance operation statement, budget development and control, investment justification

* Innovative thinker with a proven ability to work in a logical and methodical manner

* Ability to interact effectively across all levels of the organisation and in different functional environments from plant operations to technical and commercial disciplines

* Change management ability and leadership

* Good project management

* Team building/Kaizen workshops
