Network Project Manager
2-3 stage interview process
Locations: Birmingham
Up to £55,000 - £62,000
Our client, a leader in the Professional Services industry is actively looking to a hire a Permanent Project Manager who has come from a Technical Networking background.
The Role Ideal candidates will have a proactive attitude and previous experience of supporting complex projects at a technical level, who can demonstrate:
Key Responsibilities:
* Planning, leading, and managing teams responsible for projects, including internal partner solutions and lifecycle management initiatives
* Defining, planning, documenting and communicating project scope, implementation and timelines
* Coordinating the deployment of the solution. Engaging the vendors, setting timelines, providing high-level technical details and providing the RFS dispatch team with daily updates
* Effectively managing and reporting on project risks, taking corrective action where necessary
* Gaining buy-in from stakeholders to project approach and delivery objectives
* Managing technical staff and resources as required in a matrix organizational structure
* Technical Project Management for Network and Firewall deployments
* Managing multiple projects ranging from a few days' work to major network infrastructure projects
* Ensuring the effective delivery of services through tools, process, procedures and reporting
* Responsible for integrating technical and business knowledge to developing innovative solutions to automate projects activities
Skills and Qualifications:
* Technical networking and firewall knowledge to CCNA level - be able to demonstrate an understanding of the following, as a minimum; TCP and IP protocols, IP networking/subnetting, Good understanding of L2 switching and routing, Switching and Routing, Current industry-standard network hardware platforms (marketing-level familiarity), Structured cabling systems, WAN/MAN technologies, WLAN and VLAN's
* A highly proactive self-starting ethos, with strong customer focus, outstanding team skills and the ability to effectively support colleagues
* The capability to represent Network Project Services internally and externally to the high professional standard expected
* The ability to effectively manage quality standards and ensure a consistently high degree of successful delivery
* Strong co-ordination skills and the ability to understand business drivers / IT requirements.
* Good level of understanding of Cisco Networking Devices, including troubleshooting of routers and switches
* Good understanding of routing protocols such as OSPF, BGP
* Network Security knowledge including Extranets, Firewalls and Proxies
* F5 Deployment experience
* General level of understanding of IT infrastructure technologies; DNS, Market Data, Unix/Linux, Wintel Servers, Storage.
* Experience of Change Control
* Experience of successfully managing multiple projects across multiple time zones
* Qualification in Project Management
* ITIL Certification (preferred)
* CCNA (preferred)
The successful candidate will be required to undertake a Credit Reference and a Basic CRB Disclosure check.
