Nationally recognised and market leading client in Coventry is looking for a Senior Technical Specialist for Linux and Storage to join their growing team at their Head Office.

The Senior Technical Specialist for Linux and Storage will be responsible for the design, build and implementation of technical solutions to meet Business requirements and IT Infrastructure roadmaps under direction from the Technical Lead or Project Manager. You will also provide guidance, support and training to less experienced members of the team and may be required to provide out of hours support as required to meet operational IT needs.

Key responsibilities:

*Provide authoritative, specialist infrastructure expertise to IT teams to deliver or contribute to delivering Project lifecycle artefacts.

*Undertake and document the detailed technical design of infrastructure solutions to meet project objectives.

*To lead the build, configuration and implementation of the infrastructure required to meet Business Change or Infrastructure Upgrade projects.

*To ensure that all solutions consider security, capacity planning, contingency and support in line with current published policies.

*Lead and review the production and maintenance of technical documentation and operational procedures.

*Responsible for effective governance of all deliverables produced, whilst working for the project or program as well as providing guidance and support to Technical Services to ensure alignment to standards, policies and procedures.

*To be responsible for the effective delivery and transition of solutions into Service Operations.

Key skills required:

*Knowledge of systems management procedures in a large commercial, mission-critical environment.

*Capacity planning, performance tuning, proactive monitoring.

*Change control, release procedures and tools.

*Experience of Unix (preferably Solaris) and Layered Product Administration and Tuning.

*Experience of Linux (preferably Red Hat) product Installation, Administration and Tuning.

*A solid understanding of SAN technologies (ideally IBM SVC SAN or NetApp).

*A solid understanding of Storage Technologies.

*Highly proficient in scripting.

*Knowledge of ITIL based service management framework.
